(Transcribed by Joan S Dunn) Deed Book 1 A Page 199, 200, & 201 Shadrack Stallings TO David Sloan Deed for 150 acres lands This indenture made this fourth day of June, in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and eighty five, and in the ninth year of Independency, between Shadrack Stalings of the County of Duplin and State of No. Carolina of the one part, and David Slone of the same State & County aforeesaid of the other part. Witnesseth, that the said Shadrack for divers good causes and considerations, but more especially for and in consideration of the sum of fifty pounds specie, to him in hand paid the receipt whereof he doth hereby acknowledge, and himself therewith to be fully satisfied and content, and thereof and therefrom doth hereby acquit, the aforesaid David Sloan his heirs executors administrators and assigns, hath bargained sold enfeoffed conveyed and confirmed and hath by these presents for himself his heirs executors and administrators, hath and doth fully freely and absolutely bargain sell enfeoffe convey & forever confirm unto the said David Sloan his heirs & assigns one certain tract or parcel of land containing by estimation one hundred acres, be the same more or less, also a survey of fifty acres joining the hundred acres, situate lying and being in the County of Duplin on both side of Parsons branch. Begining at a dead white oak, David Slones corner, thence as his line So. 10 Wt. 46 pole to a pine his corner, then Et. 182 poles to a pine, then No. 90 poles to a small pine, thence Wt. 194 poles to a gum in the branch, thence to the begining, the fifty acres joining lying & being on the south side of Maxwell swamp and north side of the parsons branch. Begining at a pine, thence Wt. 120 poles to a pine, thence So. 64 poles to a red oak, thence along the line of the one hundred acres to the first station. To have and to hold the said one hundred and fifty acres of land and premises with the appurtenances unto the said David Sloan his heirs and assigns forever, in as full and ample manner to all intents & purposes as he the said Shadrack Stallins did might or could have held the same before the making hereof and the said Shadrack Stallins doth hereby promise and engage for himself his heirs executors & administrators that at the time of sealing and delivery hereof, that he the said Shadrack Stallin is and stands seized of the said land and premises of an indefeazable estate of inheritance in fee simple, and hath in himself good right, full power and lawfull authority to grant bargain sell convey & forever confirm the said land and premises and every part & parcel thereof, with their and every of their appurtenances unto the said David Sloan his heirs and assigns, and that from time to time and at all times forever hereafter, he the said David Sloan his heirs and assigns by power and virtue hereof may and shall have hold use possess and forever enjoy the said one hundred and fifty acres of land. In witness whereof the said Shadrack Stallins hath hereunto set his hand & seal the day and year first above written.
