(Transcribed by Joan S Dunn) Deed Book 1 A Page 203, 204, & 205 Shadrack Stallings To David Sloan This indenture made this fourth day of June in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and eighty five, & in the ninth year of our Independence, between Shadrach Stallings of the County of Duplin and province of No. Carolina of the one part and David Slone of the same province & County aforesaid of the other part, witnesseth, that the said Shadrack Stallings for divers good causes and considerations him thereunto moving, but more especially for and in consideration of the valuable sum of thirty pounds specie to him in hand and truly to be paid or secured to be paid before the sealing and delivery hereof the receipt whereof he doth acknowledge and himself therewith to be fully satisfied & contented and thereby and therefrom doth hereby acquit, and discharge the said David Sloan his heirs executors & administrators or assigns, hath bargained sold enfeoffed conveyed and confirmed, and do by these presents for himself his heirs executors & administrators, hath and doth fully freely and absolutely bargain sell enfeoffe convey and forever confirm unto the said David Slone his heirs and assigns, one certain tract or parcel of land, containing by estimation one hundred and fifty acres be the same more or less, lying and being in the aforesaid State & County. Begining at a pine said to be David Slone's corner, thence along an old line No. 82 Wt. 220 poles to a gum in Sams Branch thence So. 10 Wt. 110 poles to a pine, So. 80 Et. 220 poles to a stake in the pocoson, thence No. 10 Et. to the begining. To have and to hold the said hundred and fifty acres of land and premises with the appurtenances unto the said David Sloane his heirs and assigns forever, in as full and ample manner to all intents and purposes as he the said Shadrack Stallings might or could have held the same, before the making hereof, & the said Shadrack Stallings doth hereby promise & engage for himself his heirs executors & administrators, that at the time of sealing and delivery hereof that the said Shadrack Stallings is and stands seized of the said land & premises of an indefeazable estate of inheritance in fee simple and doth in himself good and rightfull power and lawfull authority, to grant bargain sell convey & forever confirm the said hundred and fifty acres of land & premises with the appurtenances unto the said David Sloane his heirs and assigns, and that from time to time and at all times forever hereafter, he the said David Sloane his heira and assigns by power & virtue hereof may and shall enter into have hold use occupie possess and enjoy the said hundred and fifty acres of land free and clear and freely and clearly acquited discharged saved kept harmless, and endemnfyed & from all further or other gifts grants bargains sales enfeoffements will entails dowers executors extents & incumbrances whatsoever, the quit rents which shall hereafter become due only excepted moreover the said Shadrack Stallings doth for himself his heirs executors and administrators warrent to defend the title of the said hundred & fifty acres of land to him the said David Sloan his heirs & assigns forever, free from the lawfull clame of him the said Shadrack Stallings, his heirs executors & administrators or any other person or persons whatsoever, and also the said Shadrack Stallings doth covenant & agree for himself his heirs executors & admninistrators to and with the said David Sloane his heirs & assigns that any time hereafter at the reasonable request of him the said David Sloane his heirs or assigns, & at his or their cost & charges in the law, he the said Shadrack Stallings his heirs executors administrators shall and will make or cause to be made & duly executed any further or other deed or instrument of writing for the same making a title of the said land and premises to him the said David Sloan his heirs, or assigns forever as he or they or his or their councils learned in the law shall advise devise or require. In witness whereof the said Shadrack Stallings hath hereunto set his hand & seal the day and year first above written.
