(Transcribed by Carolyn Shank) Duplin County Deed Book 3B, pg 38 Indenture made the 25 Jul 1830 between Samuel James Williams of Duplin County, NC of the first part for the sum of $1,000 to him In hand paid by Timothy Grady, Jr. Of Duplin County of the second Part, said Samuel James Williams do sell and convey unto the said Timothy Grady, Jr. A certain parcel or tract of land lying and being In Duplin County on the north side of North East River and west side Of Jumping Run, beginning on the main run of the North East River And runs north 68 poles to a poplar by the side of the Jumping Run Swamp, then north 48 poles to a stake, thence south 76 poles west 179 poles to a post oak then north 5 east 253 poles to a stake and 3 old pine pointers, then north 78 east 24 poles to a red oak and Post oak, then north 30 poles to a pine, then south 70 west 87 poles To a persimmon and sweet gum in the Long Pond, the dividing corner Between Samuel James Williams and his brother Mack Williams, then up Their line south 8 west 100 poles to two pines, then south 48 poles To a hickory, then south 8 east 133 poles to a small water oak at The head of a ditch, then south 15 east 60 poles then south 25 east 39 poles then south 60 east 9 poles to a black gum and two water Oaks at the mouth of the ditch in the North East Swamp, then south 27 east 36 poles to a black gum on the main run of North East River, Then down the run of the said river to the beginning and containing 250 acres, being all the lands which fell to me, the said Samuel James Williams, by deed from his father Charles Williams, now deceased, Together with all the priviledges, appurtenances, etc. Unto belonging.
