(Transcribed by Joan S Dunn) Deed Book E Page 321, 322, & 323 Samuel Godwin To James Outlaw Deed 200 acres This Indenture made this sixteenth day of October in the year of our Lord God one thousand seven Hundred and Eighty six. Between Samuel Godwin of Johnston County in the State of North Carolina planter of the one part and James Outlaw of Duplin County in the State aforesaid Esquire of the other part Witnesseth that I the said Samuel Godwin for and in consideration of the sum of twenty five pounds specie money to him in hand paid by the said James Outlaaw before the Ensealing and Delivery hereof well and Truly paid by the said James Outlaw the receipt whereof I do hereby acknowledge myself therewith satisfied contented and paid every part and parcel thereof do Exonerate acquit and Discharge the said James Outlaw his heirs Executors administrators and assigns forever by these presents have given granted bargained sold aliend conveyed and confirmed and by these presents do freely fully and absolutely give grant bargain and sell unto the said James Outlaw his heirs and assigns forever one Tract or parcel of Land containing 200 acres lying and being in Duplin County on the north side of Goshen swamp. Begining at a Blackjack on the head of Ground nut and runs East 254 poles to a Blackjack thence No. 127 poles to a stake in the centre of three cypresses in the said pond thence Wt. 254 poles to a pine thence to the begining to have and to hold the said granted and bargained premises with all the appurtainances previledges to the same belonging or in any wise appurtaining to him the said James Outlaw his heirs and assigns forever to his and their only proper use benefit and behoofe forever and I the said Samuel Godwin or me or my heirs and assigns do agree that before the Ensealing hereof I am the True sole and Lawfull owner of the above bargained premises and am Lawfully seized and possessed of the said in mine own proper Right as a good perfect and absolute Estate of Inheritance and have in myself good rightfull power and Lawfull authority to grant bargain sell and convey and confirm the Bargained premises in manner as above and the said Outlaw his heirs and assigns shall and may from time to time and at all times forever hereafter by virtue of these presents have hold use occupy possess and enjoy the said Demised premises with all the appurtainances free and clear and freely and clearly acquit Exonerate and Discharge of and from all manner of former Rights grants bargains sails leases mortgages Intails Dowers judgements and Incumbrances or the Lawfull cliam or Demands of any person or persons the same will warrant and forever Defend. In witness I the said Samuel Godwin do hereunto set my hand and fix my seal the day and year above written. signed sealed and Delivered in presence of Samuel Godwin William Graddy John A. Swinson State of No. Carolina Duplin County July Term 1791 Then was the within Deed proved in open Court by the oath of John A. Swinson and ordered to be Registered. Test W. Dickson C. C.
