Robert Wilkinson To Luke Ward
Deed for 75 acres lands
This indenture made the 30th day of October in the eleventh year of the American
Independence, & in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred & eighty six. Between
Robert Wilkinson of the County of Duplin in the State of North Carolina of the one part &
Luke Ward of the same place of the other part. Witnesseth, that the said Robert Wilkinson
for & in consideration of the sum of ten pounds current money to him in hand well & truly
paid by the said Luke Ward before the ensealing & delivering of these presents the receipt
whereof he doth hereby acknowledge himself therewith to be fully satisfied contented & paid
& of every part and parcel thereof doth acquit, & discharge the said Luke Ward his heirs exrs.
admns. by these presents, he the said Robert Wilkinson hath given granted bargained sold aliend
conveyed and confirmed & by these presents for himself his heirs executors & administrators
doth fully freely & absolutely give grant bargain sell alien convey & confirm unto the said
Luke Ward one certain parcel of land sittuate lying & being in the County of Duplin aforesaid
on the north side of Bear swamp, joining on the back of said Luke Ward's own land. Begining
at a black gum & white oak said Luke Ward's corner in a Branch, thence with his line No. 31
Et. 34 pole to a black oak his corner, thence with his other line No. 65 Et. to a new marked
line made for a dividing line between said Luke Ward and James Wright thence along said
dividing line a westwardly course to the main road and thence along the road to a small live
oak in a small branch a little above the road James Wright's corner, thence down the run of
said Branch to the begining & containing by estimation seventy five acres be the same more or
less, & all way's water courses profits commodities hereditaments & appurtenances whatsoever
to the said premises hereby granted or any part thereof belonging or in any wise appurtaining.
To have and to hold the lands hereby conveyed, & all and singular other the premises hereby
bargained & sold & every part and parcel thereof with their and every of their appurtenances
unto the said Luke Ward his heirs and assigns forever. To the only proper use and behoofe of
him the said Luke Ward his heirs and assigns forever, & the said Robert Wilkinson for himself
his heirs executors & administrators doth covenant promise and agree to and with the said Luke
Ward his heirs & assigns to warrant secure and forever defend the said Luke Ward his heirs
executors administrators or assigns in the quiet & peaceble possession of the said granted
and bargained premises & the appurtenances thereunto belonging, from and against him the said
Robert Wilkinson his heirs and assigns & from and against all and every other person or
persons claiming or to clame any right, title property or interest of in and to the same or
any part or parcel thereof, by from or under him them or any of them, or by from or under any
other person or persons whatsoever. In witness whereof the said Robert Wilkinson hath hereunto
set his hand, and seal the day & year first above written.
