(Transcribed by Joan S Dunn) Deed Book 1 A Page 437, & 438 Robert Merrit To James Bland Deed for 100 acres lands This indenture made the tenth day of November one thousand seven hundred & eighty six. Between Robert Merrit of the County of Sampson & State of North Carolina of the one part & James Bland of the County of Duplin & State aforesaid of the other part witnesseth, that he the said Robert Merrit for and in consideration of the sum of ten pounds to him in hand paid by the said James Bland, the receipt whereof the said Robert Merrit doth acknowledge & thereof doth acquit & discharge the James Bland his heirs & assigns forever, he the said Robert Merrit hath granted bargained sold aliend & confirmed & by these presents doth grant bargain sell alien & confirm unto the said James Bland his heirs & assigns forever, a tract or parcel of land lying & being in the County of Duplin in the said State on both sides of the Iron Mind Branch. Begining at a stake by a pine a corner tree of a survey formerly pattent by John Blanton, thence along that line No. 65 Et. 80 poles to a pine, thence No. 25 Wt. 80 poles to a pine, thence So. 65 Wt. 140 poles to a pine, thence So. 25 Et. 160 poles to a pine, thence No. 65 Et. 60 poles to a stake on John Blanton's old line, thence along said line to the first station, containing in the whole one hundred acres, together with all and singular the woods under woods profits commodities emoluments & hereditaments whatsoever to the said premises belonging or in any wise appertaining to the said premises & every part thereof, with the appurtenances, & also all the estate right title interest claim & demand of him the said Robert Merrit of in & to the said premises & every part thereof. To have & to hold the said land & premises & every part thereof with the appertainences unto the said James Bland his heirs & assigns to the only proper use benefit & behoof of the said James Bland his heirs & assigns forever, & the said Robert Merrit for himself his heirs executors administrators & assigns doth hereby warrant & forever defend the before recited lands & premises & every part thereof unto the said James Bland his heirs & assigns frorever, against the lawfull claim or claims of any person or persons claiming by from or under me or my heirs, or any other person or persons whatsoever. In witness whereof the said Robert Merrit hath hereunto set his hand & seal the day & year first above written. Robert Merrit Signed sealed & delivered in the presents of David Williams RObert Robins State of No. Carolina Duplin County October Term 1787.
