Robert Merrit To Andrew Neeley Deed 2 March 1785

(Transcribed by Joan S Dunn) Deed Book 1 A Page 156, & 157 Robert Merrit To Andrew Neeley Deed for land This indenture made this second day of March in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred & eighty five, by and between Robert Merrit of the County of Sampson in the State of North Carolina of the one part & Andrew Nealy of the said County in the State aforesaid of the other part witnesseth, that the said Robert Merrit for and in consideration of the sum of thirty five pounds specie to him in hand paid by the aforesaid Andrew Neely the receipt whereof the said Robert Merrit doth hereby acknowledge, and hath given granted bargained sold aliend enforsed and confirmed unto the said Andrew Neely his heirs and assigns forever, one certain tract or parcel of land lying and being in Duplin County in the State aforesaid on the North side of the Docktors Creek a prong of Rockfish Creek on both sides of the Iron Mind Branch. Begining at a pine on George Mears'es line, thenc as his line South sixty six West 150 pole to a stake, thence North 24 Wt. 120 pole to a stake, thence North 66 Et. 140 pole to a stake, thence to the begining, be the same more or less, togeather with all woods underwoods low grounds marshes swamps meadows water or water courses thereunto contained, with all houses out houses gardens, orchards fences & all other properties rents heriditaments previledges or appertenances to the same belong'g or in any wise appertaining to the same to have and to hold the said land and premises with their and every of their appurtenances hereon mentioned to the true intent and meaning here of the said Andrew Neely his heirs or assigns forever, & the said Robert Merrit for himself his heirs executors administrators or assigns doth covenant agree to and with the said Andrew Neely his heirs or assigns, that he the said Robert Merrit for himself his heirs or assings acquit all rights title or interest to the said above sold land and premises and shall and will forever warrent & defend the title of the above sold land and premises by these presents. In witness whereof, I the said Robert Merrit hath set my hand and fixed my seal the and year first above written. Robert Merrit Signed sealed & delivered in the presence of us Jacob Sellers Nothiel Merrit State of No. Carolina, Duplin County, January Court 1785.
