Robert Merit To Elias Sutton
Deed 640 acres
This Indenture made this twenty fifty day of October one thousand seven hundred and Eighty
nine. Between Robert Merit Junior & Elias Sutton of Duplin County and in the State afore
said plantor of the one part witnesseth that the said Robert Merit and Elias Sutton for
and in consideration of the sum of fifteen pounds specie to him in hand paid By the said
Elias Sutton before the Insealing and Delivering of thereof the receipt whereof the said
Robert Merit hath given granted Bargained sold alienated and in foresaid & Released and
confirmed and by these presents do give grant By these presents the said Elias Sutton his
heirs and assigns forever part of a tract of land of 640 acres lying and being In Duplin
County on the south side of Cattail marsh. Begining at at a pine on Robert Meritts line
thence as his line south Twelve west one hundred and forty poles to a pine thence North
seventy eight west one hundred and fifteen poles to a pine thence North Twelve East one
hundred and forty poles to a pine thence to the Begining containing one hundred acres Be
the same more of less to have and to hold forever the said land and premises the said Elias
Sutton his heirs and assigns from hence forth and forever together with all and singular
the house of Improvements timber water and water courses heriditaments and every thing
appertaining or Belonging that Robert Merrit able to Elisa Sutton and the said Robert
Meritt doth hereby oblige himself his heirs Executors and administrators to warrent and
defend the said land and all the Heriditaments Houses improvements and all and singular
the appurtenances and advantages belonging to the said Elias Sutton his heirs and assigns
forever against all persons whatever in Witness whereof the said Robert Merit have here
unto set his hand and fixed his seal the day and date of the year first above written.
