(Transcribed by Joan S Dunn) Deed Book E Page 162, & 163 Robert Ivey To Josiah Stafford Deed 250 acres This Indenture made the fifteenth day of January in the year of our Lord Christ one thousand seven hundred and Eighty nine Between Robert Ivey of State of North Carolina and County of Dobbs Planter of the one part and Josiah Stafford of the said State and County of Duplin Planter of the other part Witness that I the said Robert Ivey do for the consideartion of the sum of fifty pounds specie to me in hand by the said Josiah Stafford before the ensealing & Delivering of these presents the receipt whereof I the said Robert Ivey doth hereby acknowledge myself therwith fully satisfied contented and paid and of every part and parcel thereof doth acquit Exonerate & discharge him the said Josiah Stafford his Heirs Executors Administrators or assigns forever and I the said Robert Ivey hath given granted bargained sold covenanted and confirmed unto the said Josiah Staffoard His Heirs and assigns forever a certain parcel of Land containing by Estimation Two Hundred & fifty acres be the same more or less Lying and being in the State and County aforesaid on the East side of the North East and on both sides of Cowhole branch. Begining at a gum in the pine woods and runs Et. 230 pole to a pine and blackjack by the falling grounds of tuckeho thence along a row of Blased and noted trees partly cornering to the head of a small branch between Cowhole and Burncoat thence Down the branch to where the second Line Crosses thence withe said line North tot he gum it being part of five hundred acres Patened by George Smith Senior Patent bearing Date the third of July 1770 the said Land Including where the said Stafford now liveth and I the said Robert Ivey Do for myself my heirs Excrs. Admrs. warrant and forever Defend the above bargained Land and premises untot he said Josiah Stafford his heirs and assigns forever against the Lawfull claim of any other person or persons whatsoever but be the said Josiah Stafford he his heirs Exrs. admrs. or assigns to have and to hold the above bargained Land and premises to their only proper use benefit and behooffe In Witness I have hereunto set my hand and fixed my seal the Day and Date first above written signed sealed and Delivered in the presence of Robert Ivey George Smith Senior Richard Harts State of No. Carolina Duplin County April Term 1791 Then was the within Deed proved in open Court by the oath of Richard Hart and ordered to be Registered.
