(Transcribed by Joan S Dunn) Deed Book 1 A Page 191, & 192 Robert Dickson To Martin Rouse Deed for 100 acres lands This indenture made the eight day of October in the ninth year of America Independence and in the year of our Lord Christ one thousand seven hundred and eighty four, between Robert Dickson or the State of North Carolina & County of Duplin of the one part and Martin Rouse of the same place of the other part. Witnesseth that the said Robert Dickson for the love of good will and affection he hath & doth bear towards the said Martin Rouse hath by these presents given granted assignes and set over to the said Martin Rouse his heirs & assigns forever, one certain tract or parcel of land whereon Phillip Rouse now lives situate lying and being in Duplin County aforesaid on the west side of the North East River and joining on the south side of persimmon swamp. Begining at a black gum on Persimmon swamp run and runs along Garrisons line So. 45 Wt. 48 poles to a red oak in a meadow, thence So. 45 Et. 140 poles to a black jack, thence No. 45 Et. 70 poles to a white oak and pine by a glade, thence down the glade No. 65 Et. 80 pole to a black gum and bay tree on the run of persimmon swamp, then up the meanders thereof to the begining, containing in the whole by estimation one hundred acres be the same more or less. To have and to hold the aforesaid land and premises with all the appurtenances to the same thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining of every nature or kind whatever, and the said Robert Dickson the aforesaid land and premises to him the said Martin Rouse his heirs and assigns shall and will warrent and forever defend from and against him the said Robert Dickson his heirs & assigns, as also from & agains the lawfull clame or clames of all persons whatever who may hereafter lay any clame to the same and the said Martin Rouse the aforesaid land and premises shall and may have hold use occupie and enjoy and passess as his own free and lawfull inheritance. In witness whereof the said Robert Dickson hath hereunto set his hand & seal the date above written. Robert Dickson Signed Sealed & delivered in presence of us W.
