Richard Williams To William McGowen
Deed 25 acres
This Indenture made the Twenteenth day of November in the ninth year of American
Independence & in the year of our Lord Christ one thousand seven hundred and eighty four.
Between Richard Williams of the state of North Carolina and County of Duplin of the one
part and William McGowen of the same place of the other part witnesseth that the said
Richard Williams for Diverse good causes and consideration him there unto moving but
more especially for the Valuable consideration of the sum of Three pounds current money
of the state aforesaid to him in hand paid well and truly paid or secured to be paid
by William McGowen aforesaid before the Ensealing & Delivery of these presents the Rect.
whereof is hereby acknowledged hath by these presents given granted bargained & sold
assigned and set over to the said William McGowen his heirs and assigns forever one
certain piece or parcel of Land situate lying and being in Duplin COunty aforesaid on
Persimmon Branch joining Land Patened by Precilla Burton Beg.s at a blackjack thence
So. 64 Wt. 64 poles to a pine the third corner of the paten thence on or near to widow
Burtons line So. 61 Et. to a Maple the widow Burtons first station of her one hundred
acre survey on the Crule swamp thence along her end line So. 30 Et. 26 poles to a stake
thence So. 44 Et. 60 poles to a black jack said in the Patten to be a red oak thence
No. 30 Wt. 50 poles to a maple W. Burtons corner thence along her line to the first
station containing in the whole twenty five acres be the same more or less being the
upper part of fifty acres granted by paten to Henry Shibbon the twenty third day of
April 1762 to have and to hold the aforesaid Land and premises with all the appertainances
to the same belonging or in any wise appurtaining of every nature or kind whatsoever
to him the said William McGowen Heirs and assigns forever free from all former gifts
grants Mortgages Intails wills Dowers right title of Dower Executions Extents or
harm Troubles whatsoever and the said William McGowen the aforesaid Land and premises
shall and will have hold use occupy enjoy and possess as his own free and Lawfull
inheritance free from all inheritance given granted and done by him the said Richard
Williams or any other person or persons by from or under him the said Richard
Williams and the siad Richard Williams shall for said Land and premises to him the
said William McGowen his heirs and assigns shall and will warrant and forever Defend
from and against him the said Richard Williams his heirs and assigns as also from
against the just and Lawfull claim of all and every other person or persons whatsoever
who may hereafter lay any lawfull claim to the same In Witness whereof the said Richard
Williams hath hereunto set his hand and seal the Date above written
signed sealed and Delivered
