(Transcribed by Joan S Dunn) Deed Book 1 A Page 339, & 340 Richard Prescoat To John Williams Deed for 150 acres lands This indenture made this twelvth day of July in the year of our Lord Christ seventeen hundred & eighty six, Between Richard Prescoat in the State of No. Carolina & County of Duplin, farmer, of the one part & John Williams of the same State & County of the other part. Witnesseth, that the said Richard Prescoat for and in consideration of the sum of eighty pounds specie to him in hand paid by the said John Williams, the receipt whereof doth hereby acknowledge, himself therewith fully satisfied contented & paid & therefore hath given granted bargained sold alienated enfeoffed conveyed & confirmed and by these presents doth absolutely give grant bargain sell alienate enfeoffe convey and confirm unto the said John Williams his heirs & assigns forever, one certain messuage tract or parcel of land sittuate in Duplin County containing one hundred & fifty acres on the east side of the North East River. Begining at a red oak at Alexr. McCulloch's corner on the north side of Peters Branch that runs into Panter swamp along McCulloch's line No. 15 Et. 127 pole to a pine, thence No. 3 Wt. 50 pole to a pine George Smith's corner tree, thence along his line Et. 100 pole to a small pine & black jack, thence So. 220 pole to a maple in the pocoson on the head of Peters Branch, thence down the branch the various courses thereof to the begining, patent granted by his excelly. Josiah Marhin to Richard Prescoat bearing date July the 25th one thousand seven hundred & eighty four. To have & to hold the above demised premises with all and singular the appurtenances to the same belonging or in any wise appertaining to him the said John Williams his heirs & assigns forever, to his or their proper use benefit & behoofe forever & I the said Richard Presoat doth covenant and agree to and with the said John Williams that before the ensealing & delivering of these presents that I am the true and lawfull owner of the above premises & have in my self good right full power & lawfull authority to sell demise & dispose of the same in full and proper manner to all intents & purposes as any of the most learned in the law can require & doth by virtue of these presents agree & engange to warrant secure & defend all and singular the lands aforesaid to him John Williams his heirs & assigns forever, against any person or persons whatsoever that may ever shalling or clame the same. In witness of thereof I the said Richard Prescoat hath hereunto set my hand and fixed my seal this day & year above written. Richard Prescoat Signed sealed acknowledged & delivered in the presence of Loftis Worley George Smith junr. Absalam Boyet State of No. Carolina Duplin County October Term 1786.
