(Transcribed by Joan S DUnn) Deed Book 1 A Page 133, & 134 Richard Munds To Edward Carter Deed for 300 acres lands This indenture made between Richard Munds of Duplin County of the one part and Edward Carter of Dobbs County of the other part both of the State of North Carolina. Witnesseth that I Richard Munds for and in consideration of the sum of one hundred pounds specie to me in hand paid by the said Edward Carter the receipt whereof I acknowledge myself fully staisfied and paid, and I exonerate acquit and discharge the said Edward Carter his heirs & assigns & every part hereof from me & my heirs & have given granted aliened conveyed & confirmed unto the said Edward Carter & by these presents do fully & freely & absolutely aline convey and confirm unto the said Edward Carter a certain tract or parcel of land situate lying & being in the County of Duplin & on the North of the North East, and in the fork of Birch marsh & poley bridge branch. Begining at a pine on his own line and runs No. 40 Et. 140 poles to a small pine, thence No. 30 Wt. 280 poles to a stake on Jesse Pipkins line, thence So. 40 Wt. 185 poles to a stake on the run of Buck Marsh on Rodgers'es line, thence down the marsh to the begining at the first station, containing three hundred acres. To have and to hold the said land unto the said Edward Carter his heirs & assigns forever, together with all priviledges & commodities thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining to him the said Edward Carter his heirs for ever to his & their predecessions benefits & behoofs & the said Richard Munds my heirs do covenant & grant to and with the said Edward Carter his heirs and that before the ensealing hereof I am the true and lawfull owner of the above bargained premises in the likewise form & manner as aforesaid and that the said Edward Carter his heirs shall & may from time to time and at all times forever hereafter by force & virtue of these presents enjoy the said demised premises peacebly & quietly use hold & occupy the same with all the appertenances thereunto belonging freely & clearly acquitted exonerated & discharges of all manner of other former gifts grants bargains sail or sails or leases or any other incumbrances whatwoever & further more I the said Richard Munds my self my heirs & I do covenant & ingage the above demised prmises to him the said Edward Carter his heirs & against the lawful claimes of any person whatever, and forever hereafter do warrant & defend the same in form and manner as aforesaid mentioned. In witness whereof I have set my hand & seal eighteenth day of October 1784. Richard Munds Signed sealed & delivered in the presence of us Stephen Braddy Solomon Carter State of No. Carolina, Duplin County, January Court 1785.
