(Transcribed by Joan S Dunn) Deed Book 1 A Page372, 373, & 374 Reuben Weston To Samuel Bowden Deed for 320 acres lands This indenture made this fourth day of April one thousand seven hundred and eighty five, Between Reuben Weston of the County of Duplin & State of No. Carolina planter & Samuel Bowden of the County & State aforesaid, Taylor of the other part witnesseth, that the said Reuben Weston for and in consideration of the sum of fifty pounds specie to him in hand paid before the sealing & delivery of these presents, the receipt whereof he doth hereby acknowledge, hath given granted bargaind sold and by these presents doth give grant bargain sell convey & unto the said Samuel Bowden his heirs and assigns, a ceratin tract or parcel of land lying & being in the County of Duplin on the north side of Goshen Swamp, & on the east side of Bear Marsh Branch. Begining at a pine Samuel Bowden's corner & runs thence along his line Wt. 146 pole to a pine on his line, thence along Moses Tyler's line No. 10 Et. 68 pole to a small pine, thence along the line of John Winder's land No. 55 Et. 164 pole to a pine his corner, thence No. 35 Wt. To Henry Holley's line, thence along the said line to Thomas Bradley's line, thence along Bradley's line to the gibing line of the patent and thence to the first station, containing by estimation three hundred and twenty acres be the same more or less. Being part of a tract of five hundred and twenty acres granted to the said Reuben Weston patent bearing date the 28th day of February 1775, & now trasferred to the said Samuel Bowden as by this deed doth appear. To have & to hold the above bargained premises, with all the appurtenances & previledges to the same belonging to him the said Samuel Bowden his heirs and assigns forever, to his and their proper use benefit & behoofe forever, and the said Samuel Bowden his heirs executors administrators & assigns forever, shall and may from time to time & at all times hereafter by free virtue of these presents, lawfully peacebly & quietly have hold occupie & enjoy the above bargained premises, togeather with all houses & out houses, orchards gardens fences, water & water courses & all other previledges profits & advantages to the same belonging, truly & clearly acquit from all manner of gifts grants bargains sales leases wills mortgages or intails whatsoever or any other incumbrance whatsoever & I the said Reubin Weston my heirs & assigns forever do warrant & forever defend the above bargained premises to him the said Samuel Bowden his heirs & assigns forever from the lawfull clame or clames of all manner of person or persons whatsoever. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand & seal this day & date above written. Signed sealed & delivered in the presence of Wm. Taylor Joshua Chambles State of No. Carolina Duplin County April Term 1787. Then was the within deed acknowledged in open Court & ordered to be registered. Test W. Dickson, C. C.
