Priscilla Jernegan Dower

State of North Carolina Duplin County

In obedience to a writ of Dower from the Court of please and Quarter Sessions for the 
County of Duplin I John E Hussey Sheriff by my lawful Debty James Maxwell on the fourth 
day of January 1839 attended by

William Herring				David Jones
Daniel Herring				James Sullivan
Axam Morris				John A Kornegay
Howel Best				George W Cherry
Isaac Tailor				William Creech

Free holders of the County aforesaid unconnected by the ties of consanquinity or affinity 
unto Priscilla Jernegan widow of David Jernegan and entirely disinterested by us duly 
summoned come in proper person to a certain tract of Land whereon the said David Jernegan 
decd seized & possessed of mentioned in the writ being of Goshen containing
				acres 45
on which the said decd most giverly dwelt nixt before his death and the Jurors aforesaid 
being duly Sworn to allot and set of to the said Perscilla Jernegan one third part of the 
land of the said David Jernegan decd Allotoned set off to the said Priscilla Jernegan that 
part or portion of the said Lands comprised and included in the following bounds viz begining 
at a pine stump on the south side of the Road near James Jernegans House and Runs along the 
Road so 86 Et 147 poles to a stake the old course then so 50 poles to a pine thence North 86 
west 112 poles to a lightwood Stump then to the Begining containing 45 acres Included the 
mansion House &c containing forty five acres acres more or less which being done I the said 
Sheriff and free Holders put the said Priscilla Jernegan In possession of the premises In 
witness whereof we have hereunto set our hands and seal this fourth day of January 1839
