(Transcribed by Joan S DUnn) Deed Book E Page 304, 305, & 306 Philip Ward To William Branch Deed 217 acres This Indenture made the twenty fourth day of June in the year of our Lord one thousand seven Hundred and ninety one between Philip Ward of the County of Duplin and State of North Carolina of the one part and William Branch of the same place of the other part. Witnesseth that the said Philip Ward for and in consideration of the sum of Two hundred pounds current money of the state of North Carolina to him in hand well and Truly paid before the sealing and Delivering of these presents by the said William Branch the Receipt whereof he doth hereby acknowledge and himself herewith to be fully satisfied and contented and paid and every part and parcel thereof doth Exonerate acquit and discharge the said William Branch his heirs Executors and administrators by these presents he the said Philip Ward hath granted bargained sold, aliened, and confirmed and by these presents, doth bargain, sell, alien, and confirm unto the said William Branch and his heirs a certain peice or parcel of Land lying and being in the County of Duplin aforesaid and is Bounded as follows (to wit) Begining at a sweet gum on the run of Poley Branch near the mouth Patrick Newtons boundary and runs thence No. 35 Et. 36 pole to a Red Oake, thence No. 50 pole to a pine in hte marsh, thence No. 60 Et. 36 pole to a small maple in the marsh on Thomas Hills line thence along his line No. 30 Wt. 86 pole to a pine and an hickory thence a Deviding line So. 80 Wt. to a stooping hickory John Moores old corner, thence along his line So. 65 Wt. 152 pole to a pine his corner, thence So. 74 pole to a gum on the run of Poley branch thence down the said run as it meanders to the begining and containing in the whole Two hundred & seventeen acres it being the Plantation where William Ward on and being part of a Tract or parcel of Land formerly sold and conveyed by Henry Eustace McCulloh to John Moore and since by the said John Moores Executors to the said Philip Ward, and now by the said Philip Ward by these presents to the said William Branch and all Houses, buildings, orchards, ways, waters, water courses, profits, commodities, Heridittaments, and appurtainances whatsoever, to the said premises hereby granted or any part thereof belonging or appurtaining, and the Reversion and Reversions remainder and Remaindres, Rents, issues and profits thereof, and also all the Estate, Right, Title, Interest, use, Trust, Property claim and Demand whatsoever of him the said Philip Ward of in and to the said premises, and all Deeds, Evidences, and writings, touching or in any wise concerning the same. To have and to hold the Lands hereby conveyed and all and singular the premises hereby bargained and sold and every part and parcel thereof with their and every of their appurtainances unto the said William Branch his heirs and assigns forever to the only proper use and behoofe of him the said William Branch and of his heirs and assigns forever and the said Philip Ward for himself his heirs, Executors and administrators doth covenant promise and grant to and with the said William Branch his heirs and assigns by these presents, that the said Philip Ward now at the time of sealing and Delivering of these presents is Levied of a good secucure, perfect and Indefeaseable Estate of Inheritance in fee simple of and in the premises hereby granted bargained, and sold, and that he has good power and Lawfull and absolute authority to grant and convey the same to the said William Branch in manner and form aforesaid and that the said premises now are and so forever shall remain an bee free and clear of and from all and all manner of former or other grants bargains, sails, judgments, Executions, Titles, Troubles, charges and Incumbrances whatsoever, made, done committed or suffered by the said Philip Ward or any other person or persons whatsoever (the Rents and Taxes thereon hereafter becoming due and payable to the state only excepted) and the said Philip Ward and his heirs all and singular the premises hereby bargained and sold with the appurtainances unto the said William Branch and his heirs and all and every person and persons whatsoever shall warrant and forever Defend by these presents. In witness whereof the said Philip Ward hath hereunto set his hand and seal the day and date first above written. signed sealed & Delivered in presence of Philip Ward William Dickson William Bennet State of No. Carolina Duplin County July Term 1791 Then was the within Deed proved in open Court by the oath of William Dickson and ordered to be Registered.
