Philip Ward To William Bennet
Deed 200 acres
This Indenture made the twenty fourth day of June in the year of our Lord one
thousand seven Hundred and ninety one between Philip Ward of the County of Duplin in
the state of north Carolina of the one part, and William Bennet of the same place of
the other part. Witnesseth, that the said Philip Ward for and in consideration of the
sum of two hundred pounds current money of the state of North Carolina to him in hand
well and truly paid by the said William Bennet, the Receipt whereof he Doth hereby
acknowledge, and himself therewith to be fully satisfied contented and piad and of
every part and parcel thereof doth acquit and Discharge the said William Bennet his
heirs Executors administrators by these presents, he the said Philip Ward hath granted,
bargained, sold, aliened and confirmed and by these presents doth grant, bargain sell,
alien and confirm unto the said William Bennet, and his heirs a certain peice or parcel
of Land situate lying and being in the County of Duplin aforesaid bounded as follows
(to wit) Begining at a Red Oak near the main Road McCallops Corner, by the head of
Gilberts branch and runs thence with John Moores old line So. 40 Et. 44 pole to a pine
his Corner, thence So. 88 Et. 146 to a pine and white oake by a fallen hickory his corner,
thence So. 56 pole to a stooping hickory his corner, thence a dividing line No. 80 Et.
to a pine and hickory on Thomas Hills line, thence with his line No. 30 WT. 10 pole to
a pine his corner, thence with his other line No. 25 Et. 104 pole to a black gum his
corner on the run of horsepen branch, thence up the Run of Horsepen branch as it meanders
to a poplar at the mouth of Gilberts branch, and thence up Gilberts branch as it meanders
to the Begining. Containing in the whole Two hundred acres, it being the Land the said
Philip Ward now lives on and being part of a large Tract of Land which was formerly sold
and conveyed by Henry Eustace McCulloh Esquire to John Moore and since by the said John
Moore Executors to the said Philip Ward, and by the said Philip Ward to the said William
Bennet and all Houses, orchards, buildings, orchards, ways, waters, water courses, profits
commodities Heridittaments, and Appurtainances whatsoever, to the said premises hereby
granted, or any part thereof belonging or in any wise appurtaining, and the Reversition,
and Reversions, Remainded and Remainders Rents Issues and profits thereof, and also all
the Estate, Right Title, Interest, use, Trust, Property, Claim and Demand, whatsoever of
him the said Philip Ward, of in and to the said Premises and all Deeds Evidences, and
Writings Touching or in any wise concerning the same. To have and to Hold the Lands
hereby conveyed and all and singular other the premises hereby bargained and sold and
every part and parcel thereof with their and every of their appurtainances unto the said
William Bennet his Heirs and assigns forever, to the only proper use and Behoofe of him
the said William Bennet and of his heirs and assigns forever, And the said Philip Ward
for himself his heirs Executors and Administrators doth covenant promise and Grant to and
with the said William Bennet his Heirs and assigns by these presents, that the said Phillip
Ward now is at the thime of sealing & delivering these presents is seized of a good,
perferct and Indefeaseable Estate of Inheritance in fee simple, of and in the premises
hereby bargained and sold and that he has good power and Lawfull authority to grant and
convey the same to the said William Bennet in manner and from aforesaid, and that the said
Premises now are and so forever hereafter shall remain and be free from all former or
other Deeds, gifts, bargains, sails, Leases, Judments, Executions, Titles Troubles,
Charges and Incumbrances whatsoever, made, done, suffered or committed by the said Philip
Ward or any other person or persons whatsoever, (the Rents and Taxes thereon hereafter to
become Due and payable to the state only Excepted) and the said Philip Ward and his Heirs,
all and singular the premises hereby bargained and sold, with the appurtainances unto the
said William Bennet his heirs and assigns against him the said Philip Ward and his heirs,
and all and every person and persons whatsoever, shall Warrant and forever Defend by these
presents. In witness whereof the said Philip Ward hath hereunto set his hand and seal the
day and year first above written.
