(Transcribed by Joan S DUnn) Deed Book B-11 Page 5, 6, & 7 Peter Carlton to Mary Rivenbark Deed 196 acres be it known that I Peter Carltaon of the County of Duplin and State of North Carolina for and inconsideration of the sum of five hundred dollars to me in hand pade by Mary Rivenbark at and before the sealing and signing and delivering of these presents the receipt and payment whereof is hereby acknowledge have bargain sold aliened enfeoffed and confirmed and I do hereby bargain sell enfeoff and confirm unto the said Mary Rivenbark and the lawful heirs of her body born to her husband David Rivenbark and assigns forever a certain peice or parcel of Land lying and being in the County of duplin and State of North Carolina and on the head branches of Rockfish Creek Viz. begining at a stake at the run cattail marsh branch where Aaron Williams line crosses runing thence with John Linairs line in the marsh a course supposed to be n early No. supposed to be 4 poles to a small pine in the marsh thence with said Linairs line in the marsh Et. to a small black gum or lightwood stump Duncan Chestnutts corner thence No. 11 Et. 160 poles to a pine thence No. 80 Wt. 50 poles to a pine thence So. 43 poles to a pine thence Wt. 54 poles to a pine thence with Orman Jameses line No. 88 Wt. 12 to a red oak thence with said Jameses line South 2 Wt. 34 poles to a pine thence No. 88 Wt. about 40 poles to a stake or pine then So. 2 Wt. 4 poles to a Black gume or stake in lightwood log branch a little below Jameses ford thence down the said run as it meanders 14 poles to a bay and three black gumes in the said branch thence a blazed line So. 25 Et. 142 poles to a stake at the run of cattail marsh branch below the ford thence down the run of said marsh branch as it meanders to the begining containing by estimation one hundred and ninety six acres be the same more or less to have and to hold the said piece or parcel of land with all ways woods waters and every other apertainance there or thereunto belonging or appertaining to the said Mary Rivenbark and the lawful heirs of her bady borne to her husband David Rivenbark or assigns that I by myself my heirs Exceutors shall and will warrant and defend the said piece or parcel of land with all and every of its members and appertainances free from all lawfull claims of any person or persons whatsoever unto the said Mary Rivenbark and the Lawfull heirs of her body born to her husband David Rivenbark and assigns forever in witness where of I have hereunto set my hand and seal this december the 11th day in the year of our Lord one thousand Eight Hundred and thirty Seven Seal assign and delivered in the presence of us Peter Carlton Atlas Owen West Elizabeth Carlton State of North Carolina Duplin County Court of Pleas and Quarter Sessions January Term 1839 The exectuion of the within deed is duly proved in open Court by the oath of Owen West and of the subscribing witnessees there to and is ordered to be registered.
