Nichodemus Sandlin To Charles Whaley

This Indenture made the twelfth day of July in the year of our Lord one Thousand Eight 
hundred & thirty nine Between Nichodemas Sandlin of the State of No Carolina and County 
of Duplin of the one part & Charles Whaley of the same place of the other part witnesseth 
that the said N Sandlin for and in consideration of the sum of one hundred and forty nine 
dollars to him in hand paid by the said Charles Whaley before the signing & delivery of 
these presents the Receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged He the said N Sandlin hath by 
these presents Bargained & sold aliened and confirmed unto the said C Whaley a certain 
parcil of land lying & being in the County aforesaid and on the East side of the North 
East River Begining at a stake on the side of the Road which leads from Limestone to Muddy 
Creek and runs south 60 Et 164 poles to an Elbow of said Road thence so 54 Et 54 poles to 
a stake on the side of the road thence So 33 Wt 154 poles to a black jack thence No 75 Wt 
60 poles to a pine thence No 10 Wt 50 poles to a pine & black gum in a branch thence to 
the begining containing by estimation one hundred and forty nine acres be the same more 
or less to have and to hold the aforesaid land and primises with all the appertainances 
thereunto belonging as in any wise appertaining and I the said N Sandlin do for my self 
my heirs and assigns warrent and defend the fore said land and primises free and clear of 
all incumbrances or the lawful claim of any person or persons whatever unto the aforesaid 
Charles Whaley his heirs and assigns forever In witness whereof the aforesaid Nichodemus 
Sandlin hath hereunto set his hand and affixed his seal this day and date above writen
