Nathaniel West deed to Daniel McClam 200
To all people to whom these presents shall come. Know ye that I Nathaniel West
of the County of Duplin and province of North Carolina greeting know ye that I the
said Nathaniel West for and in consideration of the sum of eighty pounds
proclamation money to me in hand paid by Daniel McClam of the County and
province aforesaid Planter the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged and myself
hereunto fully satisfied contented and paid and have given granted bargained sold
conveyed enleassed confirmed assigned and set over unto the said Daniel McClam
his heirs and assigns forever. A certain tract or parcel of land. Containing Two
Hundred acres more or less lying and being in the County of Duplin on the east
side of Great Cahary Beginning at a pine running North 16 East 260 poles to a
Red Oak thence South 69 East 120 poles to a pine thence South 16 West 260
poles to a pine thence to the beginning of being a tract or parcel of land that was
granted to John Holland by patent. Bearing date the first day of October annodamine
1751. To have and to hold this said tract or parcel of land together with all houses
orchards gardens fencings timber and trees there on standing lying or growing with
all woods water and rivers with all affects ennumerated and here detaments unto
the same belonging or in any manner always Appertaining unto him the said Daniel
McClam his heirs and assigns forever and the said Nathaniel West for himself his
heirs executor and administrator doth covenant promise and agree to and with the
said Daniel McClam his heirs and assigns in manner following that is to say that the
said Nathaniel West at the ensealing and delivery of these presents hath a good
sufficient right title and estate of inheritance and the premises in fee simple and hath
full power and lawfull authority to bargain and sell the same in manner aforesaid unto
the said Daniel Mclam his Heirs and assigns forever and the said Nathaniel West for
himself his Heirs executor and administrators doth further promise and warrant that
the said land and premises is free from the lawful claims or demands of any person
or persons whatsoever and the same will warrant secure and forever defend unto the
said Daniel McClam his heirs and assigns forever the quit rents due to his majesty
excepted.
In Witness hereof whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this ninth
day of May annodomini one thousand seven hundred and seventy 1770. Signed sealed
and delivered in the presence of us.
