Moses Hanchey To James Maxwell
Deed for 100 acres lands
Know all men by these presents that I Moses Hanchey of the State of North Carolina
and County of Duplin, for and in consideration of the sum of six pounds current money to me
in hand paid by James Maxwell of the same place, the receipt I do hereby acknowledge myself
to be full contented and paid, hath by these presents given granted and set over th him the
said James Maxwell his heirs & assigns forever, one certain tract of parcel of land containing
by estimation one hundred acres be the same more or less, lyin on the north side of Maxwell
swamp abouth the mouth of Stocking head. Begining at a pine near to Henry Gillman's line and
runs No. 55 Et. 127 pole to a pine, thence No. 35 Wt. 127 pole to a pine, thence So. 55 Wt. 127
poles to a pine, thence to the begining, being the contents of a paten granted to Adam Platt
the twenty sixth day of October in the year of our Lord 1769, which said one hundred acres of
land was sold by Adam Platt to Moses Hanchey. To have and to hold the said land and premises
with all the appurtenances to the same belonging or in any wiase appertaining to him the said
James Maxwell his heirs and assigns forever, free from all former gifts grants mortgages intails
jointures dowers or rites of dowers or any other incumbrance whatsoever given or granted by him
the said Moses Hanchey the above land and premises shall & will forever warrent and defend to
the said James Maxwell his heirs and assigns, from and against him the said Moses Hanchey his
heirs and assigns, as also from and against the just & lawfull clame of every other person
whatsoever, who may hereafter lay any lawfull claim to the same or any other incumbrances to
him the said James Maxwell his heirs and assigns forever. In witness whereof the said Moses
Hanchey hath hereunto set his hand and seal the fourth day of August in the year of our Lord
1785.

Then was the within deed proved in open Court by the oath of David Bunting & ordered
