(Transcribed by Joan S Dunn) Deed Book 1 A Page 535, & 536 Micajah Brumley To John Johnston Deed for 100 acres lands This indenture made the 10th day of March seventeen hundred and eighty three. Between Micajah Brumley planter of Duplin County & State of No. Carolina & John Johnston of the aforesaid State & County, planter, of the other part, witnesseth, that he the said Micajah Brumley for and in consideration of the sum of eighty pounds specie to him in hand paid at and before the ensealing & delivery of these presents, the receipt & payment whereof I do hereby acknowledge myself to be therewith fully satisfied contented & paid & of every part and parcel thereof doth hereby exonerate acquit & discharge the said John Johnston his heirs & assigns forever, doth by these presents give grant bargain sell assign & set over to said John Johnston one certain tract or parcel of land containing one hundred acres of land, situate lying & being in Duplin County on the west side of Stewarts Creek above the mouth of Buckhall joining his own John Baptist Shepherd & Abraham Glisson's lines. Begining at a pine his own upper back corner of the land he lives on, patened by Thomas Johnston, thence along Abraham Glisson's line No. 25 Wt. to his corner and past 74 poles to a pine, thence So. 65 Wt. 190 poles to a stake, thence So. 25 Wt. 90 poles to a pine on John Shepherd's line thence as the same No. 68 Et. 66 poles to Brumley's own line, thence as the same No. 25 Wt. 30 poles to the begining, containing one hundred acres be the same more or less. Being the contents of a patent granted to Micajah Brunley & from him conveyed by virtue of this deed to John Johnston junr. To have & to hold the said bargained premises with all the appurtenances to the same belonging or in any wise appertaining of every nature or kind whatever to him the said John Johnston his heirs & assigns forever, free from all former gifts grants mortgages intails dowers jointures executions entents or troubles of every nature of kind whatever, and the said Micajah Brumley the aforesaid land & premises shall and will warrant & forever defend said land to him the said John Johnston his heirs & assigns from & against him the said Micajah Brumley his heirs & assigns, as also from and against the just & lawfull claim of every other person or persons whatever who may hereafter lay any lawfull claim to the said...& the said John Johnston the aforesaid land and premises shall and may have hold use occupie enjoy & possess as his own free & lawfull inheritance, free from all incumbrances whatever given granted or done by him the said Micajah Brumley or any other person or persons by from or under him or any of them. In witness whereof the said Micajah Brumley hath hereunto set his hand & seal the day & year above written. Micajah Brumley Signed sealed & delivered in the presence of us Jno. Molten Abraham Molten State of No. Carolina Duplin County January Term 1788. Then was the within deed proved in open Court by the oath of Abraham Molten & ordered to be registered. Test W.
