(Transcribed by Joan S Dunn) Deed Book E Page 3, 4, & 5 Luke Bowzer To Joseph Grimes Deed 175 acres State of No. Carolina Duplin County This Indenture made this Twenty seventh day of October In the year of our Lord Christ One Thousand seven hundred and Eighty three between Luke Bowzer of the said State and County aforesaid Planter on the one part and Joseph Grimes of the said State and County aforesaid planter on the other part Witnesseth, that the aforesaid Luke Bowzer for and in Consideration of the sum of Ten Pounds Specie to the said Luke Bowzer in hand paid by the said Joseph Grimes before the Ensealing and Delivery of these the receipt whereof he doth acknowledge and thereof doth for ever aquit and discharge the aforesaid Joseph Grimes his heirs Exrs Adams. and assigns hath given granted Bargained sold released conveyed and confirmed and doth by these presents fully freely and absolutely give grant Bargain Sell release Convey and confirm unto him the aforesaid Joseph Grimes his heirs Executor administrators and assighs forever more all that Tract or parcel of Land containing by estimation one hundred and seventy five acres be the same more or less. It being part of a tract of three hundred and fifty acres granted to Nechodemus Thomson Bearing Date the twenty second doay of Decr. 1768. Beging at a water oak on the River Bank Thomasons beging corner and runs So 40 Et one Hundred a sixty two poles to a Bay tree his other Corner thence along the Pocoson So 30 Et 140 poles to a stake thence astraigh line to the mouth of the Lagoon on the River Bank thence Down the River to the beging and transferred by Nechodemus Thomson to Luke Bowzer and from Bowzer to Joseph Grimes References in the Registors Office being had may more fully appear. To have and to hold the aforesaid tract or parcell of Land as above described unto him the said Joseph Grimes his heirs Exrs. and assigns free from all former Incumbrances of what Nature or kind soever and all the Reversion and Reversions remainder and remainders Issues and Profits thereof in any wise belonging in Either in Law or Equity unto the aforesaid Joseph Grimes his heirs and assigns for ever more to him and theirs ownly proper use benefit and behoof for ever and the said Luke Bowzer my self my heirs Exr. Amnins. and assigns will warrent and defend the said Lands & premises against the Lawful claim of any persons whatever unto him the said Joseph Grimes his heirs and assigns for ever. In witness whereof the said Luke Bowzer hath hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal the day and year first with and above mentioned Signed Sealed Delivered Luke Bowzer In presents of us William Houston Senr, William Mccanne State of No. Carolina Duplin County October Term 1790 Then was the within deed proved in open Court by the oath of William Houston and ordered to be registered.
