Elizabeth Sandlin to Waxel Sandlin 16th January 1847
This indenture made the 16th day of January A.C. 1847 between Elizabeth Sandlin of the State
of North Carolina and County of Duplin on the one part and Waxel Sandlin of the same state
and county afore written of the other part witness that the said Elizabeth Sandlin has for and
in consideration of the sum of one hundred dollars to her in hand paid by the said Waxel
Sandlin the receipt where of is hereby acknowledged have bargained sold and set over a
certain tract or parcel of land unto the said Waxel Sandlin Bounded as follows on the east
side of the North East River and on a branch of muddy creek called Rooty Branch beginning
at a pine stump in the fork of said branch above the road and runs S 136 poles to a pine
thence S 85 W 30 Poles to a White Oak then S 10 W 52 pole to a stake at the edge of a
small branch as it meanders to Rooty Branch William Cothlin corner then down said branch
as it meanders to Rooty Branch then up said branch to the beginning containing by
estimation seventy eight acres be the same more or less all which lands and assurtenance
there unto belonging to the said Elizabeth Sandlin do Warrant the right unto the said Waxel
Sandlin to him and to his heirs and assigns to be free and clear from the trust and lawful
claims of all other person or persons whatsoever in witness whereof I the said Elizabeth
Sandlin have hereunto set my hand and seal the day and date above written.
