Lewis Brock to Jeremiah Pearsall
Deed for 266 acres of lands
This indenture made the twentieth day of July in the ninth year of American
Independence and in the year of our Lord Christ one thousand seven hundred and eighty
four, between Lewis Brock of the State of North Carolina and County of Duplin of the
one part and Jeremiah Pearsall of the same place of the other part. Witnesseth that
the said Lewis Brock for diverse good causes and considerations him hereunto moving
but more especially for the valuable consideration of the sum of seventy five pounds
specie to him in hand well and truly pain or secured to be paid by Jeremiah Pearsall
above said befor the ensealing and delivery of these presents the receipt wherof is
hereby acknowledged, hath by these presents given granted, bargained sold assigned
and set over to the said Jeremiah Pearsall his heirs and assigns forever the following
tracts of parcels of land situate lying and being in the County aforesaid on the
branches of Rockfish Creek and bounded as follows Viz. one tract or parcel lying on
both side of Taylors Creek being the upper part of a tract of 270 acres pattened by
Thomas Kenan and by several conveyances brought into the possession of the said Lewis
Brock. Begining at a pine and gum in the side of the Gallberry Branch on the patent
line runing So. 15 Et. 108 poles to a small gum in the edge of the Creek Swamp thence
So. 40 Et. 106 poles to a pine in the patent line, thence by the pattent line No. 40
Et. 172 poles to a pine the pattent corner, thence as the pattent line No.50 Wt. 180
poles to a pine the patent corern in a pocoson, thence along the old line to the
begining containing in the whole one hundred & sixty six acres be the same more or less
Also one other tract or parcel of land in the County aforesaid on the east of Taylors
creek aforesaid and joining the said land above mentioned. Begining at a pine No. of
the creek, his old corner of the aforesaid land and runs thence the old line So. 40
Wt. 220 poles to a pine thence So. 50 Et. 74 poles to a pine, thence No. 40 Et. 220
poles to a pine, thence to the begining containing in the whole 100 acres, be the same
more or less. To have & to hold the aforesaid land and premises to the said Jeremiah
Pearsall his heirs and assigns forever, free from all incumbrance whatsoever given
granted or done by him the said Lewis Brock and the said Lewis Brock for himself his
heirs and assigns the aforesaid land and premises to him the said Jeremiah Pearsall his
heirs and assigns shall and will warrant and forever defend from and the just and lawful
claim of all persons whatsoever. In witness whereof the said Lewis Brock hath hereunto
set his hand and seal the date above.
