Lewis Brock To Synthia Hall
Deed for Negro Ailsey
State of North Carolina, Dupin County. Know ye that I Lewis Brock of the County and State
aforesaid, doth for and in consideration and pure love that I have for my illegitimate Daughter
Synthia Hall, wife of Gregory Hall of the County and State aforesaid, do give grant and
bequeath and forever confirm unto the said Synthia Hall, wife of Gregory Hall a certain Negro
Girl Slave named Ailsey about five years of age. Which Negro Girl the said Synthia Hall is
to have all of the Right title and interest in and to during her natural life time the said Girl
and her increase if any, and at the decease of the said Synthia Hall, the Negro Girl Ailsey
and all of her increase if any is to be equally divided between all of the children that the said
Synthia Hall now has and may hereafter have to share equally alike. Which Negro Girl
Ailsey I do warrant and defend to her the said Synthia Hall her lifetime and then to the
increase of her body forever to be free and clear from me the said Lewis Brock and my heirs
and assigns forever. In Witness whereof, I the said Lewis Brock have here unto set my hand
and affixed by seal. This 21st day of May AD 1836.
