Jones Deed for land This indenture made this thirteenth day of Fabruary in the year of our Lord Christ, one thousand seven hundred eighty five, between Lewis Barnes of Duplin County and State of No. Carolina of the one part and Anthony Jones of the County and State aforesaid of the other part. Witnesseth that the said Lewis Barnes do for and in consideration of the sum of fourteen pounds to me in hand paid, the receipt whereof I do acknowledge & myself to be fully satisfied & paid of every part and parcel thereof, I do discharge him the said Anthony Jones his heirs Execs. admin. or assigns forever and have given granted & sold unto the said Anthony Jones his heirs and assigns forever, a certain parcel of land lying in Duplin County on the east side of the No. East River, on both sides of the road & Burncoat swamp. Begining at a stake in the swamp Anthony Jones's corner, thence his line across the road So. 25 Et. 160 pole to a black jack his corner, thence his other line So. 65 Wt. 54 poles to a pine, thence along Samuel Jones's line So. 25 Et. 80 poles to a pine, thence No. 65 Et. 140 poles to a pine, thence crossing the road No. 25 Wt. 320 poles to a pine over Burncoat swamp, thence So. 65 Wt. along Adams'es line 84 pole to a pine on the edge of CowHole branch, thenc down said branch four poles to a pine on George Smith's line, thence his line So. 45 Wt. down Cowhole branch to the mouth and up Burncoat swamp with Anthony Jones's line to the begining, the said land & premises thereunto belonging to his proper use the said Anthony Jones his heirs executors administrators forever, without interuption of him the said Lewis Barnes his heirs executors admins. or assigns or any other person, & the said land and premises shall forever continue and be unto the said Anthony Jones or his heirs forever. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand & fixed my seal the day & year above written. Lewis Barnes Signed sealed & delivered in the presence of us Anthony Miller Frederick Smith State of No. Carolina, Duplin County, January Court 1785.
