(Transcribed by Joan S Dunn) Deed Book 1 A Page 400, & 401 Levin King To William Dickson Bill of sale for 2 negroes State of No. Carolina Duplin County. Know all men by these presents that I Levin King of the State of Maryland and County of Somerset for and in consideration of the sum of eighty pounds current money of North Carolina, in gold and silver & thirty four pounds in paper currency of the said State of No. Carolina to me in hand well and truly paid by Wm. Dickson of the State of No. Carolina & County of Duplin, the receipt whereof I do hereby acknowledge &c. have bargained and sold unto the said William Dickson in publick & open dealing, two negroes, to wit. a negro man named Stephen twenty years of age & a negro woman named Lydia about sixty years of age, which said two negroes Stephen & Lydia I do hereby engage to warrant and defenc to the said William Dickson his heirs executors admns. & assigns forever, from and against me the said Levin King my heirs executors & administrators & from and against the just and lawfull claim & demand of all and every person or persons whatsoever, claiming any right title interest or property in the the said slaves hereby bargained & sold. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand & seal this 28th day of November 1786. Levin King Test James Morris Edward Dickson State of No. Carolina Duplin County July Term 1787.
