Joseph Thomas Rhodes four hundred acres of land in Duplin County.  Begining at a pine 
East of the North East of Cape Fear river standing on Butcher bluff Greggs and Willsons 
corner.  Thence the old paten course North 87 East 340 poles to a pine twenty poles East 
of the Road.  Then South three West 340 poles to a pine.  Thence North 48 West touching 
Jesper Eoxes corner ( Now Shuffields) four hundred and forty poles to a water oak on the 
river.  Thence up the river as it meanders to the begining.

Dated the twenty fourth day of October 1786
