(Transcribed by Joan S Dunn) Deed Book 1 A Page 180, 181, & 182 Joseph Willson To James Wallace Deed for 250 acres lands This indenture made the tenth day of December in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and eighty four, between Joseph Willson of the State of No. Carolina & County of Duplin planter of the one part and James Wallace of the State and County aforesaid. Witnesseth that he the Joseph Willson for divers good causes and consideration him thereunto moving but more especially for the consideration of the sum of thirty pounds current money of State aforesaid, to him in hand well and truly paid by said James Wallace before the ensealing and delivery of these presents, the receipt of the same whereof he the said Joseph Willson doth hereby acknowledge himself therewith fully satisfied contented and paid, & hath by these presents given granted bargained alienated enfeofed conveyed and confirmed and set over by these presents doth give grant bargain sell aline enfeoffe convey & confirm unto him the said James Wallace his heirs and assigns, two small tract or pieces of land containing two hundred and fifty acres situate and lying and being the County of Duplin on the east side of the North East Branch of Cape Fear, between Limeston Creek and Muddy Creek and the first small tract joining Charles Cox and Frederick Gragg. Begining at a pine said Greggs corner at the river, thence run along his line No. 88 Et. 57 chain to water oak near Charles Cox corner, thence So. 27 Wt. along his line 25 chains to a pine, thence So. 80 Wt. 34 chains to a water oak by the river, thence down the river to the first station, containing by estimation one hundred acres, be the same more of less, and patent being granted by President Meathew Roman paten bearing date February 27th day 1754, Viz. the other small tract joyning with the former tract contain one hundred and fifty acres situated as before mentioned on East side of the No. East branch of Cape Fear River. Begining at a water oak on the river bank John Brock's lower corner, thence runing along his line No. 70 Et. 155 pole to a sweet gum in the swamp his corner, thence So. 13 Et. 46 pole to a water oak Charles Cox'es corner, thence along his line So. 27 Et. 136 poles to a pine in his line, thence So. 80 Wt. 158 pole to a water oak his corner by the river, thence to the river 20 pole, thence up its meander to the begining, and containing by estimation one hundred and fifty acres, be the same more or less. To have and to hold the above said lands and premises to him the said James Wallace his heirs and assigns forever, and to the only proper use benegit and behoofe and all and every of the appurtenances all their wood water & water courses, and all their houses barnes and stables gradens and orchards and all their other improvements thereunto belonging and he the said Joseph Willson for himself his heirs executors adms. and assign in manner & form following, that is to say the said James Wallace and assigns shall and may from time to time and at all time hereafter, quietly and peacebly to hold use occupie possess and enjoy the free land tenement & improvement & every part and percel thereof freely and clearly from all other gifts deed leases dowers mortgages seals & imcumbrance whatsoever and he the Joseph Willson his heirs executors administrators assigns forever hereafter doth warrent and defend the said lands tenements and heriditaments and premises with all their appurtenances unto him the said James Wallace his heirs and assigns and agains all lawfull claim or claims and demands whatsoever with all other right and property to use occupie lett sell possess and enjoy only the yearly taxes excepted that is due now on said land or hereafter shall be laid on by the General Assembly of this State etc. In witness whereunto the said Joseph Willson hath set his hand and fixed his seal the day and year above written.
