(Transcribed by Joan S Dunn) Deed Book 1 A Page 541, & 542 Joseph Dickson To John Boney Deed for 150 acres lands This indenture made the seventeenth day of April in the twelveth year of American Independence & in the year of our Lord Christ one thousand seven hundred and eighty eight. Between Joseph Dickson of the State of No. Carolina & County of Duplin of the one part & John Boney of the same place of the other part. Witnesseth, that the said Joseph Dickson for divers good causes and considerations him thereunto moving, but more especially for the valuable consideration of the sum of fifty pounds in hand well & truly paid, by John Boney above said berfore the ensealing & delivery of these presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, hath by these presents given granted bargained sold assigne & set over to the said John Boney his heirs & assigns forever, one certain tract or parcel of land, situate lying & being in Duplin County aforesaid on the No. East side of Little Rockfish or Cummins'es Creek, on both of the main road joining the land known by the name of the Red House land. Begining at a pine a little east of the by said edge of the Red House meadow on the line of said land & runs along said line No. 80 Et. 100 pole to a pine the corner thereof, thence across the road & with the other line, No. 82 Wt. 104 poloes to a gum at the run of Little Rockfish, thence up the same by various courses 100 pole to a white oak, thence across the road So. 82 Et. 124 poles to a pine, forty yards north of Rutherford's corner, thence to and with Rutherford's line South 296 poles to a stake, thence to the first station, containing in the whole one hundred & fifty acres, be the same more or less. To have and to hold the aforesaid land and premises with all the appurtenances to the same belonging or in any wise appertaining of every nature or kind whatever to him the said John Boney his heirs and assigns forever, free from all former gifts grants mortgages intales wills executions entents or troubles whatsoever, & the said Joseph Dickson for himself his heirs executors adms. & assigns, the aforesaid land and premises with all the appurtenances to the same belonging or in any wise appertaining to him the said John Boney his heirs and assigns, shall and will warrant & forever defend from and against him the said Joseph Dickson his heirs and assigns, as also from and against the just and lawful claims of all & every other person or persons whatever who may hereafter lay any lawful claim to the same. In witness whereof the said Joseph Dickson hath hereunto set his hand & seal the date above written. Joseph Dickson Signed sealed & delivered in presence of us Thomas Hooks Daniel Teachey State of No. Carolina Duplin County April Term 1788.
