Joseph Dickson To John Blanton
Deed for 100 acres lands
This indenture made the eighteenth day of July in the tenth year of the American
Independence & in the year of our Lord Christ one thousand seven hundred & eighty five.
Between Joseph Dickson of the State of No. Carolina & County of Duplin of the one part &
John Blanton of the same place of the other part. Witnesseth that the said Joseph Dickson
for divers good causes & considerations him thereunto moving but more especially for the
valluable consideration of the sum of ten pounds current money of the State aforesaid to
him in hand well & truly paid or secured to be paid by John Blanton aforesaid, before the
ensealing & delivery of these presents, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, hath
by these presents given granted bargained sold assigned & set over to the said John Blanton
his heirs & assigns forever, all that tract or parcel of land sittuate lying & being in the
State & County aforesaid on the north side of the main Doctors Creek of Rockfish on both
sides of a Branch called the Deep gully. Begining at a pine Clifton Bowen's No. Wt. corner,
thence Wt. 82 pole to a pine, thence No. 104 pole to a gum in a Branch, thence Et. 156 pole
to a pine, thence So. 104 poles to a stake on Bowen's line & with the same to the begining,
containing in the whole one hundred acres be the same more or less, being the contents of a
patent granted to the said Joseph Dickson the tenth day of November Anno Domini 1784. To
have & to hold the aforesaid land & premises with all the appurtenances to the same belonging
or in any wise appurtaining to him the said John Blanton his heirs & assigns forever, free
from all former gifts grants mortgages intails wills dowers right or title of dowers execution
entents or troubles whatsoever, committed or done by hin the said Joseph Dickson or any other
person or persons whatever by from or under him & the said Joseph Dickson, the aforesaid land
& premises to him the said John Blanton his heirs & assigns shall and will warrent & forever
defend from & against him the said Joseph Dickson his heirs & assigns as also from & against
the just and lawfull claime of all & every other person or persons whatever who may hereafter
lay any lawfull claime to the same. In witness whereof the said Joseph Dickson hath hereunto
set his hand & seal at Duplin the date above written.
