Carrell Bill of Sale for Negroe State of North Carolina Duplin County Know all men by these presents that I have bargain and sell to my son John C. Carrell a certain negro man name Cato about fifty of age for the sum of three hundred dollars to me in hand paid by the John Carrell before the sealing and delivery of these presents which negro slave I do warrant the title to him the said John Carrell and his heirs from and against the lawful claim of all and every person whatsoever witness my hand and seal this 12th day of February 1839. Test Higb Block Joseph Carrell State of North Carolina Duplin County Court of pleas and Quarter Sessions April Term 1839 The execution of the within bill of sale is duly acknowledge in open court by John Carrell and is ordered to be registered.
