(Transcribed by Joan S Dunn) Deed Book 1 A Page 95 & 96 Johathan Taylor To Benjain Herring Deed for 200 acres lands This indenture made this 14th day of October in the year of our Lord God one thousand seven hundred and eighty three between Jonathan Taylor of the State of North Carolina and County of Duplin of the one part and Benjamin Herring of the same County and State aforesaid of the other part. Witnesseth that the said Jonathan Taylor for divers good causes him thereunto moving, but more especially for the considerable sum of forty pounds specie to him in hand paid before the sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof he doth hereby acknowledge himself to be therewith fully satisfied and contented of every part and parcel therof doth acquit and discharge the said Benj. Herring his heirs executors and administrators hath bargained sold conveyed and confirmed by these presents for himself his heirs executors and administrators & assigns fully grant bargain sell and convey and forever confirm unto the said Benj. Herring his heirs or assigns a tract or parcel of land containing two hundred acres be the same more or less situate ling and being in the above said County of Duplin between No. East & Goshen on the head of one of Ned's Branches called the rice ground branch. Begining at a pine by a pond and runs No. 40 Wt. 180 pole to a pine the So. 50 Wt. 180 pole to a pine, thence So. 40 Et. 180 pole o a pine, thence to the begining. To have and to hold the said two hundred acred of land and premises with the appertenances thereunto belonging with all houses buildings pastures woods water courses with all enjoyments to the said land in as full and ample a manner as the said Taylor by the said patent as patent bearing date the 4th day of May 1769, as I the said Jonathan Taylor shall or will at any time or all times give any instrument in writing as my learned in law shall think proper for attaining a right to said land at said Herrings cost, that said Taylor is the true heir and lawful owner of the said mentioned without any incumbrances on the same rents only excepted and without interruption of him the said Taylor his heirs executors or administrators or any other person or persons whatsoever to the said Benjamin Herring his heirs and assigns forever. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and fixed my seal the day and date above written. Jonathan Taylor Signed sealed and delivered in presence of us William O'Daniel Charity Herring State of No. Carolina, Duplin County, October Court 1784.
