(Transcribed by Joan S Dunn) Deed Book 1 A Page 312, 313, & 314 John Wright To Thomas Wright Deed for 400 acres lands This indenture made the fourteenth day of October in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred & eighty six, and in the eleventh year of the American Independence. Between John Wright of the State of No. Carolina and County of Duplin of the one part and Thomas Wright of the same place, son of the said John Wright of the other part. Witnesseth, that the said John Wright as well for and in consideration of the natural love & affection which he hath & beareth unto the said Thomas Wright his son as also for the better mantainance & preferrment of the said Thomas Wright, hath given granted alined enfeoffed & confirmed and by these presents doth give grant alien enfeoffe & confirm unto the said Thomas Wright all that messuage tract or parcel of land lying and being in the County of Duplin aforesaid on the south side of Goshen swamp, being a part of the manner plantation whereon the said John Wright now lives, and joining the dividing branch. Begining at a small water oak by the run of said branch and runs thence No. 80 Et. 15 pole to a marked white oak by the place where the still commonly stands, thence by a line So. 10 Et. 88 pole to a white oak by the fork of a branch, thence up the said branch a So. course 120 pole to the upper fork of said branch, thenc up the main fork thereof So. 30 Et. 54 pole to a small sweet gum & black gum saplin in the head thereof, thence by a line So. 154 pole to a pine on the back line, thence along the back line Wt. 88 pole to a pine by a pond the corner of William Dickson's land, thence along his line No. 25 Wt. 84 pole to a maple & gum in the dividing branch, thence down the run of said branch as it meanders joining William Dickson's land to the begining, and containing in the whole two hundred and fifty acres be it more or less also one other tract or parcel of land lying and being in the County of Duplin aforesaid on the south side of Goshen swamp, between Rooty branch and the head of Poley branch. Begining at a pine the corner of Robert Bird's land and runs with his line So. 33 Et. 90 pole to a water oak his corner in a pond, thence with his other line No. 70 Et. 83 pole to a pine on Gilbert McCallop's line, thence with his line So. 250 pole to a pine on said John Wright's own line, thence along his line No. 60 Wt. 143 pole to a pine in a pond, thence Wt. along his other line 80 pole to a stake, thence No. 18 Et. 256 pole to the begining, containing one hundred and fifty acres be it more or less, it being the one half of a patent of 300 acres of land granted to the said John Wright bearing date the fifteenth day of December 1778, reference being thereunto had may more fully appear, with all and singular the appurtenances, and all houses and house lands improvements previledges benefits and advantages whatsoever thereon or thereunto in any wise belonging & the reversion & reversions remainder & remainders unto and services of the said premises, and all the estate right, title interest property clain and demand of him the said John Wright of in & to the said messuage tract or parcel of land & premises and of in and to every part and parcel thereof with the appurtenances, and all deeds evidances and writings concerning the said premises only now the hands or custody of the said John Wright or which he may get or come to without such in law. To have and to hold the said messuage tenements tracts or parcels of land & premises hereby given & granted or mentioned or intended to be given & granted unto the said Thomas Wright his heirs & assigns tot he only proper use & behoofe of him the said Thomas Wright his heirs and assigns forever, and the said John Wright for himself his heirs executors and administrators doth covenant to & with the said Thomas Wright his heirs and assigns by these presents that he the said Thomas Wright his heirs and assigns shall and may from time to time henceforth forever hereafter peacebly and quietly have hold use occupie possess and enjoy the said Messuages tenements tracts or parcel of lands heriditaments & premises hereby given & granted or mentioned orietended so to be with their appurtenances free and clear & discharged of and from all former or other gifts grants bargains slaes felffements jointures dowers estates rents rent charges one arages of rents & of & from all other titles troubels charges & incumbrances whatsoever had made committed done or suffered to be had made committed done or suffered by him the said John Wright his heirs executors or administrators or any other person or persons lawfully claiming or to clame by from or under him them or any of eighther of them. In witness, whereof the said John Wright hath hereunto set his hand & fixed his seal the day & date first above written. John Wright Signed Sealed & delivered in the presence of us. W.
