(Transcribed by Joan S Dunn) Deed Book 1 A Page 347, 348, & 349 John Winders To James Winders Deed for 304 acres lands This indenture made this eighteenth day of November one thousand seven hundred & eighty six. Between John Winders of the County of Duplin & State of No. Carolina planter, of the one part, & James Winders of the County & State aforesaid of the other part, witnesseth that the said John Winders as well for and in consideration of the natural love & affection which he hath & beareth unto the said James Winders his son as also for the better advancement & maintainence of the said James Winders, hath given granted aliend enfeoffed & confirmed & by these presents doth give grant alien enfeoffe & confirm unto the said James Winders all that messuage or tenement lands lying and being in the County of Duplin & State of North Carolina, being part of a tract of seventy one thousand one hundred & sixty formerly granted by patten to Henry McCulloch & since by the said McCulloch conveyed to William Cannon & by the said Cannon to the said John Winders by a deed of sale bearing date the eighteenth day of October 1775, & now by these presents conveyed by the said John Winders to his said son James Winders, & is buted & Bounded & followeth to wit. Begining at a sweet gum in Kings branch, runing So. 40 Wt. 60 pole to a pine, thence north 27 Wt. 54 pole to a white oak saplin, thence No. 70 Wt. 40 poles to a hickory, thence No. 40 Wt. 80 pole to a maple on Woolfs Branch, thence No. 35 Et. 52 pole pine on McCullochs line to the great tract, thence No. 14 Wt. 32 pole to a pine, thence No. 30 Wt. 84 pole to a red oak, thence No. 40 Et. 30 pole crossing King's branch, in all 66 pole to a pine, thence So. 40 Et. 120 pole to a stake between a black jack & a pine, thence So. 70 Et. 60 pole to a small pine thence So. 24 Et. 80 pole to a pine saplin, thence So. 22 Wt. to the begining & containing in the whold two hundred & four acres of land & also one other tract or parcel of land lying & being in the County & State aforesaid on the south side of Kings Branch & on both sides of Woolf's Branch, joining the above mentioned tract & bounded as follows, (to wit). Begining at a hickory William Connon's corner of the above granted land & runs thence along the line of the same, No. 40 Wt. 80 pole to a maple in Woolf's branch, thence No. 35 Et. 52 pole to a pine, thence No. 28 Wt. 100 poles to a red oak his corner, thence No. Wt. 5 pole to a dogwood on Henry Cannon's line, thence joining the same So. 25 Wt. 180 pole to a black gum in Woolfs branch, thence So. 65 Et. 160 pole, thence to the begining, containing one hundred acres it being the contents of a pattent granted to William Cannon, bearing date the 16th day of December 1769, with all and singular its appurtenances & all houses & outhouses land etc. & the reversion & reversions remainders & remainders rents & services of the said land and all the estate right title interest property claim & demand whatsoever of him the said John Winders of in & to the said messuage or tenement lands & premises & of in & to every part & parcel thereof with the appurtenances & all deed evidences and writings concerning the said premises only now in the hands or custody of the said John Winders or which he may get or come by without suit in law. To have & to hold the said messuage or tenement lands & premises hereby given & granted or intended to be given & granted unto the said James Winders his heirs & assigns to the only proper use & behoofe of him the said James Winders his heirs & assigns forever, & the said John Winders for himself his heirs exrs. & adms. doth covenant & grant to & with the said James Winders his heirs & assigns by these presents, that he the said James Winders his heirs & assigns shall & lawfully may from henceforth forever hereafter peacebly & quietly have hold occupie possess & enjoy the said messuage tenement lands heriditament & premises hereby given & granted or mentioned or intended so to be with their appurtenances free & clear & discharged of and from all former & other gifts grants bargains sales feoffments jointures dowers estates entales rents rent charges arearages of rents & off and from all other titles troubel charges & incumbrances whatsoever has made comitted done or suffered or to be had made committed done or suffered by him the said John Winders his heirs executors administrators or any other person or persons lawfully claiming or to clame by from or under him them or eighther of them. In witness whereof I the said John Winders have hereunto set my hand and seal the day & year above written. John Winders Signed sealed & delivered in the presence of us James Ward Jesse Swinson State of No. Carolina Duplin County Jany. Term 1787.
