(Transcribed by Joan S Dunn) Deed Book E Page 276, 277, & 278 John Waters To Charles James Deed 460 acres State of No. Carolina Duplin County This Indenture made the twenty seventh day of January 1789. Between John Waters of the same County aforesaid of the one part and Charles James of the same place of the part. Witnesseth that for and in consideration of the sum of One Hundred pounds to him in hand paid before the Ensealing and Delivery of these presents The receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath by these presents granted Bargained sold assigned and set over to the said Charles James his heirs and asigns forever. The following Tracts or parcels of Land situate lying and being in Duplin County aforesaid on the west side of Maxfield swamp and Bounded as follows (Viz) On tract Patened by Isaac Parker of one Hundred acres. Begining at a turkey oake in the side of Franks Branch Runing thence So. 68 Wt. 126 poles to a Black oak, thence No. 22 Wt. 126 poles to a lightwood stump thence No. 68 Et. 126 poles to a pine thence to the begining also one other of fifty acres which was conveyed by Abraham Beesly to Alexander Armstrong the eight day of September 1776. Begining at the Run of Jameys Branch on Beesleys upper line and runs with the Paten line north 40 Et. to a pine the third corner of the paten thence as the Paten Line So. 50 Et. 127 poles to the line of the other survey thence as the line of the said survey No. 40 Et. to a Red oak the second corner of the Land said Beesly Bought from James Williams thence So. 50 Et. to the Run of Maxfield swamp. Thence down the Run as it Meanders to the mouth of Jameys Branch thence up the Branch by various courses to the line of the new paten thence up with the new paten to the Begining also one other Tract of one Hundred and Ten acres granted to Alexander Armstrong the first day of April 1780. Begining at a Red oak on the Edge of Parkers Branch being the first station of One Hundred acrs Patened by Isaac Parker thence as that line So. 68 Wt. 126 poles to a Red oak his corner thence So. 25 Et. 116 poles to a blackjack on Abraham Beeslys line thence his line north 40 Et. 120 poles to a pine his corner thence his other line So. 50 Et. 127 poles to a stake thence north 45 Et. 8 poles to a Red oak. Thence by Austin Beeslys line north 25 Wt. 56 poles to a pine thence No. 48 poles to a white oak at the Run of Armstrongs Branch thence up the Run untill opposite to the Begining thence to the first station also one other Tract of Two Hundred acres granted to Alexander Armstrong the first day of April 1780 begining at an ashe at the run of Jameys Branch on Abraham Beeslys line and his own corner of another survey thence his own line No. 25 Wt. 74 poles to a Red oak his corner thence his other line No. 67 Et. 66 poles to a pine white oak and Blackjack his corner thence his other line north 67 Et. 66 poles to a poplar on Armstrongs Branch thence Branch as it Meanders with Williams line 210 poles to a maple and gum thence So. 200 poles to a pine thence So. 80 Et. 80 poles to a water oak in Jameys Branch thence down the branch with Abraham Beesly line to the Begining containing in the whole Four peices of Land by Estimation four Hundred and sixty acres be the same more or Less. To have and to hold the aforesaid Lands and premises to his the said Charles James his heirs and assigns forever free from all former gifts grants Mortgages wills Intails Executions Entents or troubles whatsoever committed or done by him the said John Waters and the said John Waters the aforesaid land and premises shall and will warrant and forever Defend to his said Charles James his heirs and assigns forever against him the said John Waters his heirs and assigns also from the just and Lawfull claim of all persons whatsoever. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and fixed my seal this day and year first above written. signed sealed and Delivered In the presence of John Waters Michael J.
