John V. Taylor To Hancock Hatcher
Deed for 100 acres lands
To all to whome these presents shall come, Know ye that I John Volentine Taylor of
the County of Duplin and State of No. Carolina planter for and in consideration of the sum
of seven pounds specie to me in hand well and truly paid by Handcock Hatcer of the state and
County aforesaid the receipt hereof I do hereby acknoweldge myself therewith fully satisfied
contented and paid, hath bargained sold conveyed & set over unto the said Handcock Hatcher his
heirs & assigns forever, one message tract of parcel of land, situate lying & being in the
County aforesaid and on the east side Buck Hall. Begining at a pine at a pond, thence So. 35
Wt. 48 poles to a pine called McCulloch's corner, thence as his line No. 60 Wt. 62 poles to a
pine, thence as his other line So. 25 Wt. 100 poles to a fed oak thence as his other line No.
55 Wt. 40 poles to a pine, thence as his other line No. 2 Wt. 62 poles to a pine, thence as his
other other line No. 45 Wt. 40 poles to a pine, thence Et. 106 poles to a stooping pine, thence
the same course continued 92 poles to a stake, thence to the begining, containing one hundred
acres of land be the same more or less. To have and to hold the said bargained premises with
all the appurtenances thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining to him the said Handcock
Hatcher his heirs executors administrators or assigns forever, to his & their only proper use
benefit and behoofe, and I the said John Volentine Taylor, for me myself my heirs executors
administrators and assigns do covenant promise and agree to & with the said Handcock Hatcher
his heirs & assigns, that at and before the ensealing hereoff I am the true and sole owner of
the above bargained premises & lawfully seized & possessed of the same in my own right, as a
good & perfect estate of inheritance in fee simple, and have in myself just right full power
and lawfull authority to give grant bargain sell and set over the said bargained premises as
above and the said Handcock Hatcher his heirs & assigns shall & may from time to time & at all
times hereafter by these presents peacebly & quietly occupie possess and enjoy the above
bargained premises with all their appurtenances thereunto belonging free and clear and freely
and clearly of and from all manner of gifts grants bargains sales leases mortgages wills intales
dowers judgements executions and incumbrances of any kind or nature whatsoever, said I do for
myself my heirs and admins. & assigns warrent and forever will defend all and singular the above
bargained premises unto the said Handcock Hatcher his heirs and assigns and against the lawfull
clame or claims of any person or persons whatsoever. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my
hand & seal this twenty third day of November 1784.
