John Sullivent To Benjamin Herring
Deed 500 acres
This Indenture Made this Eightenth Day of August one thousand seven hundred and Eighty
nine Between John Sulivint and Benjamin Herring Both of the County of Duplin and province of
North Carolina To all people to whom all presents shall come greeting. Know ye that I John
Sullivint of the County and province aforesaid for and in consideration of the sum of fifty
pounds specie Money sometime past being paid to me Did then make a certain Deed of sale to
Elisha Carroll for five Hundred acres of Land lying in Duplin County Which said Deed is
supposed since to be lost or Mislaid so that it cant be found whereupon consideration of that
same sum and losses of the said Deed I the said John Sullavint am so tisfied to Make this
other Deed of sale to Benjamin Herring of the aforesaid County for the same five hundred acres
of Land Lying in Duplin County on the North side of Goshen Swamp and on Both sides the Narrow
Meadow Marsh Joining William Bullards Line and John Sullavints Line Begining at a pine on John
Sullavints line and runs Et. 224 poles Crossint the Narrow Marsh Branch along Bullards line to
a pine thence No. 288 poles crossing Rice ground Branch to a Black Jack thence Wt. 188 poles
to a stake on John Sullavints line thence with his line So. 30 Wt. 140 poles to a gum on Neds
Branch thence No. 60 Wt. 76 poles to a stake on John Sullavints line thence to the begining
patent by the said John Sullavint Containing five hundred acres bearring Date April the first
day 1780 land Elisha Carrell Give James Herring Deed for to have and to hold the said five Hundred
acres of Land with all the appertainances thereunto belonging unto the said Benjamin Herring his
heirs and assigns to the only proper use benefit and Behoofe of him the said Benjamin Herring his
heirs and assigns and I the said John Sullavint for me and my heirs Do hereby these presents and
with the other Deed Which is since supposed to be lost or Mislaid Makeover unto the said Benjamin
Herring his heirs or assigns all our Wright Title to the above mentioned five Hundred acres of
Land In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and fixt my seal the Day and date above written.
