John Sullivan to Elizabeth Sullivan
Deed of 100 acres of lands
To all to whom these presents shall come greeting: Know ye that, I John Sullivan
of Duplin County and State of North Carolina, planter, for and in consideration of the sum
of four pounds State money to me in hand paid before the in sealing and delivery hereof,
well and truly paid by Elizabeth Sullivan of said State and County, the receipt whereof I
do hereby acknowledge myself thencewith to be fully satisfied and contented and of every
part & parcel thereof, do exonerate, a quit, and discharge the said Elizabeth Sullivan her
heirs executors administrators and assigns forever & by these presents have fiven granted
bargained sold aliened and confirmed and by these presents do fully freely and absolutely
give grant bargain sell convey and confirm unto the said Elizabeth Sullivan she her heirs
and assigns forever on ?messnage? or tract of land situating lying and being in the County
of Duplin and State of North Carolina above said lying and being on the Huckleberry pond
and head of Bee branch and little march. Begining at a Black Jack and runs east supposed
to be one hundred poles to a small white oak & Black Jack; thence South supposed to be one
hundred and fifty poles to a pine John Sullivans old corner, thence up John Sullivans old
line supposed to be one hundred poles to a Pine; thence to the begining, containing by
estimation one hundred acres, be the same more or less to and to hold the above bargained
premises wih all the appurtenances and privilages thereunto belonging or in any wise
appertaining to him the said John Sullivan his heirs and assigns forever to her the said
Elizabeth Sullivan she her exrs., admirs., and assigns or either of them to heir of their
proper use benefit & behoof, forever and I the said John Sullivan for me my heirs, executors,
administrators and assigns that befor the insealing and delivery hereof I am the true and
lawful owner of the above bargained premises in manner as above and have for myself good
right and lawful authority to convey the same in an above said, and that the said Elizabeth
Sullivan she her heirs, executors administrators and assigns shall and may from time to time
& at all times for ever hereafter peasable possess and enjoy the above bargained premises
with all privileges to the same belonging or in any wise appertaining and I do further more
engage myself to secure and defend the same to said Elizabeth Sullivan against the claims or
demands of any other person or persons whatsoever forever hereafter In witness whereof I have
hereunto set my hand & seal this 20th day of October 1782.
