(Transcribed by Joan S Dunn) Deed Book E Page 316, & 317 John Shuffield To Francis Oliver Deed 100 acres This Indenture this thirteenth day of October in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and Eighty five. Between John Shuffield of the County of Duplin and State of North Carolina of the one part, and Francis Oliver of the County and state aforesaid of the other part. Witnesseth that the said John Shuffield for and in consideration of the sum Five pounds to him in hand paid before the sealing and Delivery of these presents the receipt whereof he doth hereby acknowledge hath given granted bargained and sold and by these presents doth give grant bargain sell convey and confirm unto the said Francis Oliver his heirs and assigns forever a certain Tract or parcel of Land lying and being in the County of Duplin on the North side of Goshen Swamp and in the fork of Bear Marsh, Begining at a gum in the Drean of the marsh on his own line and runs with his line No. 82 Et. 68 poles to a pine thence So. 180 poles to a pine thence So. 82 Wt. 90 poles to a stake, thence No. to the said Drean and in the same to the Begining. Containing one hundred acres granted by Patent to the said Shuffield bearing date the 29th day of Ocotber 1782, and runing on the Land the said Francis Oliver Bought of John Foley in the fork of Bear Marsh to have and to hold the said Bargained premises with all houses orchards ways waters and water courses Heridittaments profits and advantages unto the same belonging or in any wise appurtaining and the said Francis Oliver his heirs and assigns shall and may from time to time and at all times hereafter by free virtue of these presents Lawfully peaceably and Quietly have hold occupy possess and enjoy the said Bargained premises freely and clearly acquit and Discharge from all former gifts grants bargains sails wills leases mortgages and Intails and from the Lawfull claim or claims of him the said John Shuffields heis heirs Executors administrators and every of them and all manner of persons or their and every of their behalf. In witness whereof I the said John Shuffield have hereunto set my hand and seal this day and date above written. signed sealed and Delivered in presence of John Shuffield Lavin Watkins Abraham Banow Junior State of No. Carolina Duplin County July Term 1791 Then was the within Deed proved in open Court by the oath of Lavin Watkins and ordered to be Registered.
