(Transcribed by Joan S Dunn) Deed Book 1 A Page 164, & 165 John Parker To William Beven Deed for 160 acres lands This indenture made the tenth day of May in the year of our Lord Christ one thousand seven hundred and eighty five, between John Parker of the State of No. Carolina & County of Duplin of the one part and William Beven of the same place of the other part. Witnesseth that the said John Parker for divers good causes and considerations him thereunto moving, but more expecially for the valuable consideration of the sum of twenty pounds specie food and lawfull money of the State of North Carolina to him in hand well & trule paid by William Beven aforesaid the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, hath by these presents given granted bargained sold assigned and set over, to the said William Beven his heirs & assigns forever one certain tract or parcel of land situate lying and being in Duplin aforesaid on the Wt. side of Rockfish Creek including John Parker's survey that joins Daniel Bowen's line & Edwards'es survey. Begining at a Holley in the mouth of Cabbin Branch thence Wt. 160 poles to a stake, thence So. 100 poles to a stake, thence Et. 106 poles to a stake on Bowen's line, thence as his line No. 6 poles to a white oak his corner, thence as his other line Et. 60 poles to a stake in the swamp, thence to the begining, containing one hundred acres be the same more or less, paten'd by John Parker the twenty ninth day of October Anno Domino 1782. To have and to hold the said bargained lands which are the appurtenances to the same belonging or in any wise appertaining to him the said William Beven his heirs and assigns forever and the said John Parker the aforesaid land to him the said William Beven his heirs & assigns shall and will warrent & forever defend from and against, him the said John Parker his heirs & assigns as also from and against the just and lawfull clame of every other person or persons whatsoever, who may hereafter lay any just & lawfull clame to the same. In witness, whereof the said John Parker hath hereunto set his hand and seal the date first above written. John Parker Signed sealed & delivered in the presence of us John Bowney Joseph Bevan State of No. Carolina, Duplin County, January Court 1785.
