John Neale To Andrew Reed
Deed for 100 acres lands
This indenture made the 14th day of April in the year of our Lord 1787, & in
the 13th year of the Independence of this State &c. Between John Neale of the one
part and Andrew Reed of the other part. Witnesseth, (both of the State of No. Carolina
& County of Duplin) that the said John Neale for and in consideration of the sum of
fifty pounds specie to him in hand well and truly paid at and before the sealing &
delivery of these presents, the receipt whereof the said John Neale doth acknowledge
& himself fully contented and paid and thereof and therefrom doth fully acquit the
said Andrew Read his heirs executors administrators or assigns, hath bargained sold
conveyed & confirmed, and by these presents for himselfr his heirs exrs. adms. or
assigns hath fully freely and absolutely granted bargained sold conveyed and confirmed
unto the said Andrew Reed his heirs and assigns, one certain tract of parcel of land
lying and being in Duplin County. Beg. in the run of Battle Branch on Richard Miller's
patten line and runing along said line No. 3 Et. to the run of Dark Swamp & down
said run till the River swamp & down the said swamp to the run of Battle Branch, &
up said Branch to the first station, containing by estimation one hundred acres, be
the same more or less, with all and singular the rights previlidges to the same
belongining or in any wise apprtaining. To have and to hold the said bargained
premises to him the said Andrew Reed his heirs & assigns forever, in as full and
ample manner as the said John Neale doth hold & enjoy the same before the making
hereof, & the said John Neale doth hereby promise & engage for himself his heirs
exrs. adms. that as at the time of sealing & delivery of these presents hath in
himself full right good power & lawfull authority to grant bargain sell convey &
forever confirm the said land and premises, with all the appurtenances unto the
said Andrew Reed his heirs or assigns, & that from time to time & at all times the
said Andrew Reed his heirs or assigns by power & in virtue hereof may and shall
enter into have hold use occupie possess & enjoy the said one hundred acres of land
and premises free & clear freely & clearly acquited & discharged saved kept harmless
& indemnified of and frolm all former gifts grants bargains sales dowers jointures
judgments mortgages wills intails controversies & all incumbrances whatsoever,
(moreover) the said Neale his hhis heirs exrs. & admns. doth warrant and defend the
said one hundred acres of land to him the said Andrew Reed his heirs and assigns
forever, from the lawfull claim of him the said John Neale his heirs exrs. admns.
or assigns or any other person whatsoever, & also the said John Neale doth covenant
and agree that at any time hereafter, at the cost and charges in the law of him the
said Andrew Reed his heirs or assigns shall make or cause to be made and duly excuted
any further or other deed or instruments in writing for the sure making of the title
to said land & premises to him the said Andrew Reed of his or their council learned
in the law may advise or direct. In witness whereof the said John Neale hath hereunto
set his hand & seal the day and year first above written.

Then was the within deed proved in open Court by the oath of Robert Lester & ordered
to be registered.
