John Megee to Ebenezer Garison
Deed 550 acres
This Indenture made this second day of September in the year or our Lord one Thousand
seven hundred and ninety Between John Megee of the County of Duplin and State of North
Carolina Planter of the one part and Ebenezar Garison of the County State and occupation
aforesaid of the other part. Witnesseth that the said John Megee for and in consideration
of the sum of thirty pounds specie in hand paid the receipt of which he doth hereby
acknowledge and himself satisfied paid and content there with Have Bargained sold aliened
and conveyed unto said Ebenezar Garison Three Tract or parcels of Land situate in the
County of Duplin aforesaid Viz. one Tract containing by Estimation three hundred acres
be the same more or less on the East side of the north E. River and north side of muddy
creek swamp Begining at a white oak and red oak on the side of the swamp by Thomas Pickett
senr. uper line and runs There north 2o E. 110 pole to a small pine at his corner Thence
along his other line west 100 pole to a small pine Thence north 15 West 90 pole to a
large pine thence along Thomas Picket Junior his line & past his corner No 60 E. 266 pole
to a pine by Joseph Allens line Thence South 15 E. along Henry Fountains line 120 pole
to a white oak his corner on the side of the swamp thence down the various courses of
the swamp to the Begining Patented the twenty second day of July 1774 One other Tract
containg by Estimation Two hundred acres be the same more or less On the north side of
Muddy creek on the Heads of the mill Branch Begining at a pine South side of the north
prong of said Branch by a drain Shacklefords his own & Daniel Southerlands corner.
Thence Shacklefords line north thity East two hundred and six pole to a black jack by
a path to a stake on Daniel Southerlands line. Thence his line South 10 Et. 116 poles
his other corner. Thence his line nearly north 68. West to the begining. One other
Tract containing by Estimation fifty acres be the same more or less on both sides of
Mudd creek Including the swamp Beginig at a pine on the East side of the north West
prong of Muddy creek at or nigh to John Woodwards line. Thence nort 82 Wt. 36 poles to a
gum at the creek the uper corner of his survey of 180 acres known by the name of the
mill swamp Thence down the swamp with said survey the open line about So. 10 Wt. 120
poles crossing the mill run to a gum the lower corner of said mill Land. Thence in
the swamp So. 60 Et. 100 poles to a stake thence to the Begining. All which Lands
and premises with the appurtainances thereunto beloning said John Megee doth for him
self his heirs Executors and Admrs. Covenant grant sell and convey to said Ebenezar
Garison his heirs Exrs. Admrs. and assigns forever to the only proper use and behoofe
of said Ebenezar Garison his heirs and assigns forever and that the said Ebenezar Garison
his heirs and assigns shall and may from time to time and at all times hereafter Have Hold
possess and enjoy all and singular the above bargained Land and premises without any
interruption Trouble or molistation of him the said John Megee his heirs Executors and
administrators or any other person or persons whatever said Ebenezar Garison paying the
Tax as the Law may require on the same and the said John Megee doth warrent and forever
defend said Land and premises free and clear from all Bargains sales gifts grants
mortgages or Executions and every other Incumbrance whatever according to the true
Intent and meaning of these presents in Witness whereof he the said John Megee doth set
his hand and affix his seal the day and date first written.
