(Transcribed by Joan S Dunn) Deed Book 1 A Page 377 John McGee To James Gillespie Bill of Sale for negroes Know all men by these presents that I John McGee of the County of New Hanover hath bargained sold and delivered and by these presents doth bargain sell confirm and convey unto James Gillespie of the County of Duplin a certain woman slave named Juno & her two childred Daniel & Solomon & one negro boy the child of my wench Grace named Will, for the sum of two hundred and thirty pounds specie, which said slaves I do warrant & defend from the lawfull or just claim of any person or persons whatsoever. As witness my hand & seal this 16th day of June 1787. John McGee Signed sealed & delivered in the presence of John Housman Kilby Faison State of No. Carolina Duplin County Jany. Term 1787. I do hereby certify that the execution of the within Bill of Sale was proved this 18th day of December 1787, by the oath of John Houseman of the subscribing witness thereto before me the subscriber in the form of law, let the same Bill of sale be registered.
