John McCullach To William Hunter
Deed 100 acres.
This Indenture made this thirteenth day of July in twenty first year of jAmerican
Independence in the year of our Lord Christ one thousand seven hundred and ninety six Between
John McCullach of the State of No Carolina & county of Duplin of the one part, & William Hunter
of the same place of the other part Witnesseth, that the sd John McCullach for divers good
causes and considerations him thereunto moving but more especially for the valuable
consideration of the sum of thirty pounds current money of the State of No Carolina to him

in hand well & truly paid or secured to be paid by William Hunter aforesaid before the
ensealing & delivery of these presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, hath by
these presents given granted bargained sold assigned & set over unto the said William Hunter
his heirs & assigns forever one certain lot tract or parcel of land situate lying & being in
Duplin County aforesaid on the head of pasture branch & on both sides of the main road,
including the place where the said John McCullach formerly lived, Beginning at a Black Jack
the second line of the patent a little North W. of a branch called polecatt branch 26 poles
from the third corner of the patent, thence crossing the said branch and both main roads So
5 E’ 140 pole to a Black Jack, thence with Mccullachs patent line So 75 E’. 150 pole to a pine
his corner by a branch, thence Alexander Dickson & James James’ line No 15 W’ 210 pole to a
pine the corner thence as the patent line So 36 W’ about 50 poles to a water oak in pasture
branch the corner, thence the patent line No 75 W to the first Station – Containing as the
whole 100 acres be the same more or less being the one half of a patent of 200 acres granted
to the said John McCullach the 9th day of Octr. 1783, To have and to hold the said bargained
land and premises with the appertenances to him the said William Hunter his heirs & assigns
forever, free from all incumbrances whatsoever & the said John McCullach for himself his heirs
the aforesaid land & premises to him the said William Hunter his heirs and assigns shall and
will warrant & forever defend from & against him the said John McCullach his heirs and assigns
as also from & against the just and lawful claim of all & every other person or persons
whatever who may hereafter lay any lawful claim to the same. In witness whereof the said John
McCullach hath hereunto set his hand & seal the date before written.
