(Transcribed by Joan S Dunn) Deed Book 1 A Page 523 John Hill To Stephen Miller Bill of sale for one negro girl New Hanover County. Know all men by these presents that I John Hill of the County & State aforesaid for and in consideration of the sum of one hundred & fifteen pounds to me in hand paid or conditioned to be paid, the receipt whereof I do hereby acknowledge & my self fully satisfied have bargained sold and delivered to Stephen Miller of Duplin County & State aforesaid one negro girl named Sarah, which said negro I do warrant & mantain the right title claim or claims of any other person or persons whatever, to him the said Stephen Miller his heirs & assigns forever. As Witness my hand & seal this 9th day of April 1788. John Hill Witness James Maxwell State of No. Carolina Duplin County April Term 1788. Then was the within deed proved in open Court by the oath of James Maxwell & ordered to be registered. Test W. Dickson, C. C.
