(Transcribed by Joan S Dunn) Deed Book E Page 280, 281, & 282 John Hart To Isaac Spence Deed 100 acres This Indenture was made the seventeenth day of December in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and Eighty nine between John Hart of the County of Duplin and state of north Carolina of the one part and Isaac Spence of the County of and state aforesaid. Witnesseth, that the said John Hart for and in consideration of the sum of fifty pounds, specie to him in hand paid before the sealing and Delivery of these presents the receipt whereof he doth hereby acknowledge hath given granted Bargained and sold and by these presents doth give grant Bargain sell convey and confirm unto the said Isaac Spence his Heirs & assigns forever a certain Tract or parcel of land Lying & situated and being in the County of Duplin on the north side of Goshen swamp on a place called the Lake, Begining at a pine in the second line of Barfields Paten Running No. 20 Et. 60 poles to a pine, thence north 50 Wt. 200 poles crossing the Road to a water oak, in the Edge of No. East Pocoson thence along the given line of the Pattent & to a pine in the middle of the same andthence along a line of new marked trees to the begining containing the full compliment of one Hundred acres being part of a tract of two hundred acres granted to Jesse Barfield Patent Bearing date the first day of April 1780 and transferred through several hands unto the said John Hart & now by him to the said Isaac Spence as by this deed doth fully appear to have and to hold the said bargained premises with all houses orchards, ways waters and water courses, Heridittaments Profits commoditied or advantages unto the same belonging or in any wise appurtaining and the said Isaac Spence his heirs and assigns shall and may from time to time and at all times by free virtue of these presents Lawfully Peaceably and quietly, have, hold, occupy possess and enjoy the said Bargained premises Freely and clearly acquit and Discharged from all former gifts, grants, bargains, sales wills leaces Mortgages and Intails and all manner of Incumbrances whatsoever, and I the said John Hart do warrant and forever Defend the said Bargained premises unto the said Isaac Spence his heirs and assigns forever from the Lawfull Claim of all manner of persons whatsoever. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the day and Date above written. Signed sealed and Delivered In Presence of John Hart Richard Bradly John Prowse State of No. Carolina Duplin County July Term 1791 Then was the within Deed proved in open Court by the oath of Richard Bradly and ordered to be Registered.
