This Deed brought up a lot of unanswered questions John Gibbs Deed 10 Acres To Zacheriah and Treacy Turnage This indenture made the seventeenth day of July in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and ninety five between John Gibbs Administrator of Christopher Burch dead of the County of Duplin and State of North Carolina of the one part and Zacheriah Turnage and Treacy his wife of the County of State aforesaid of the other part witnesseth that whereas Christopher Burch died on the twentieth day of August in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and eighty eight, make and assign above unto Treacy Warren (Now the wife of the said Zacheriah Turnage) for the sum of fifty pounds of lawful money of North Carolina handing him the said Christopoher his heirs, executors, administrators and assigns to make unto the said Treacy Warren her heirs and assigns a sufficient title in fee simple to a certain tract or parcel of land lying and being in the County of Duplin on White Oak Branch, described in the said land as follows. Joining his own Millards and Gibbs line containing ten acres and since laid off for the said Zachariah Turnage and described as follows. Beginning at a Red Oak a corner of the said Burches, patent on the west side of White Oak Branch in Millards field and runs with his line S.3 w. 80 poles to a small Red Oak by the side of Burches field, thence W 22 Poles to a stake in the field then N.3 E.66 Pole to a stake by Millards House on his line, thense with his line N. 58 E. 36 pole to the beginning. Now the said John Gibbs as a Administrator of the said Christopher Burch Doth by these presents convey and confirm unto the said Zacheriah Turnage and Treacy his wife all and singular the above mentioned premises, together with all houses, orchards, fence ways, waters and water courses and every part and parcel thereof unto the said Zacheriah Turnage and Treacy his wife their heirs and assigns forever in as frill and ample a manner as the said Christopher could hand down as also one other tract or parcel of land lying in the county aforesaid and joining the other above described described and between that and White Oak Branch. Beginning at a small Red Oak mentioned in the above described tract running thirty pole to a gum a corner of the said Gibbs patent on the run of White Oak thence then on the run to a Gum another corner of said patent and from thence a straight line 11 pole to the Red Oak in Mallards field and thence with the first line of the above ten acres to the beginning containing by estimate ten acres be the same more or less being part of a tract granted to the said John Gibbs and by him assigns unto the said Zechariah Turnage his heirs and assigns forever for and in consideration of ten pounds the receipt whereof the said John Gibbs doth acknowledge and the said John Gibbs doth further covenant to and with the said Zechariah Turnage that he is the lawful owner of the said premises and has full power and lawful authority to convey the same according to the true intent of these presents, with every part and parcel thereof unto the said Zechariah Turnage his heirs assign forever, and doth warrant and defend the premises unto the said Turnage Free and clear of and from all measure of lawful claims whatsoever in witness whereof the said John Gibbs hath hereunto set his hand and seal the day and date above written.
