(Transcribed by Joan S Dunn) Deed Book E Page 346 John Freelad To David Murdock Bill of Sale Know all men by these presents that I John Freeland of Orange County in the State of North Carolina for & in consideration of thirty pounds Lawfull money of the State aforesaid, have sold and Delivered unto David Murdock of the County of Duplin and State aforesaid one negroe woman slave named Betty which said negroe slave Betty I do bind myself my heirs and every of them to warrant and Defend to him the said David Murdock his heirs and assigns forever from and against the Lawfull claim or Demand of any person or persons whatsoever as witness my hand and seal in Duplin this 1st day of December 1790 signed sealed and Delivered in presence of John Freelad Thomas Routledge State of No. Carolina Duplin County July Term 1791 Then was the within Bill of sale proved in open Court by the oath of Thomas Routledge and ordered to be Registered.
